How about relatives who are on welfare, already have kids, didn't graduate from high school, and get pregnant yet again.

I take my dog to a local dog park which is fairly sizable. There are three areas, including one for big dogs and one for small dogs. There are people who bring their small breed dog or puppy into the big dog area and then spend their time telling other dogs to "play nice", "take it easy", or telling the owner their dog plays "too rough".

Fack....if you don't like what's going on, take your midget canine and go to the small dog park. And don't even get me started on the non-scoopers.

All this to imply that in every situation I would be a dick? I believe I have made myself pretty clear in that there are those that deserve my love and there are those that that deserve my penny. Your example is admirable, something I might very well have done in the same situation but I ain't, nor was I ever talking about sick and destitute. My example is dedicated to the dude who is 5'9 and 260 with a sign about I need food. So yeah, there is a penny for that asshole and those like him.
Seems to me your ish ain't about me dropping a penny rather, my judgement of character? Could I be right, counselor? After all, it ain't about my penny, it is about the person you think deserves better or nothing at all? And what is your great indicator that it is about me at all? Say a kid comes around the neighborhood after the trash truck has passed and kicks all the cans over. Is it about me when I snatch his ass up and motivate him to pick up the cans? So I see the same guy working the same corner with the same sign, his shopping cart and his woobie...Perhaps my penny will motivate him to move his operation to another street. That is community service. I do nothing and he stays. That is community harassment because ultimately, the dude serves no purpose.
I think you are on to something...

Please tell me he was in the middle of a busy intersection? Please!!!!

I get it, but I also agree with @CajunlostinCali I see it every damn day, same dudes, same intersection, same gimmicks and you just go numb to it all. I mean when I guy is standing there with a sign saying he has been homeless for 6 months, has the ratted out clothes to match his story, smells like ass, I call him over to my window and say "hey bud, next time you may want to forget to shave" and then drive off and leave him to ponder the advice.

Get real. Do you imagine that a crippled homeless guy will suddenly be "motivated", "ponder your advice", and go apply for a job at IBM? Someone in that shape is beyond motivation and taking advice. All they do is think that you are an asshole and hope the next guy isn't. Either give the feller some change or ignore him as you see fit. But stopping to humiliate him or lecture him is just something that an asshole does to make himself feel important.

You missed the point amigo. If the dude is truly homeless and on the outs then how is he clean shaven? Surely he is running a con and me exposing him isn't going to hurt his feelings.

I made is clear several posts ago that I am talking about the truly down-and-out, not the con men. I find it fairly easy to tell them apart.

    This. This so hard.

Dog park etiquette is far from a conscious effort. Not a day goes by my dogs are not at either, a dog park of mostly, dog beach. I have heard about the parks with segregated areas for dog size but I have not been to one. Our park is huge (20 acres) so size tends to merge with size. My dogs are big, 1 is old and the other, middle age with a little puppy left. Some folks show up with new puppy and expect this barrier to evolve for the sake of puppy. People who have no understanding for doggy social skills. My dog has a great understanding for knowing another dogs fun meter. Though they may be playing rough, the other dog continues to engage. owners get upset without realizing their dog is actually having a good time.

We spend more time at dog beach though. Folks who go to that beach without dogs tend to get the red ass when a wet dog shows a little love. I hate having to remind them they are in fact...at a beach purposed solely for dogs. Fact is, there is nothing happier in this world than a wet dog. Nothing.
