Barring a total collapse by LSU on offense, defense and special teams, what would Alabama do to win on Saturday. In other words, do we have an Achilles heel that they can exploit?
I don't think there is anything on paper really. LSU should theoretically win all of their games. Problem is we all know games aren't played theoretically. None of the teams remaining on our schedule are slouches and all are very capable of beating LSU if the Tigers don't bring their A game. Tigers will have to earn every win they get from here on out.
It would take a "Tide" L-Wave for them to win this game in my opinion. The Bye week does worry me a little bit, but Only Oklahoma and Maybe Florida has played just as good as us. All we have to do is look back at last years Alabama-LSU game that should be plenty INCENTIVE to be ready to play and kick some "Tide" Ass. If that isn't enough look at the Kentucky-LSU, Arkansas-LSU games as more INCENTIVE to not Let up, PLAY for 60 Minutes. These were Lessons to Learn and with a coach like Nick around I don't think this team will have any repeat of the last 4 games of last year. I think we might have a chance to blow them out, not saying we will, the following reasons: 1) Their QB's are banged up. 2) We should be able to shut down the run. 3) I didn't see any difference when we played USC or Auburn. The game looked exactly the same, Players, gameplan, for all "3" teams. I "Believe" our football team has been playing at that HIGH a Level. 4) This is the PERFECT Scenario of the "roll" from the 2000 season, the Defense is better and the offense starting to look similar from then.
Alabama is an ancient and fierce conference rival. I almost feel that they would rather knock LSU from it's loftly perch on Saturday than win at Auburn the following week....Mike Shula will have those guys pumped up and ready to play over their heads come game time. We need to bring our "A+" game for the full 60 minutes....
I would much rather lose to LSU than to Auburn. Beatig Auburn three in a row in Jordan-Hare would be so sweet! The only downside is, they might fire Tuberville.
It's definately a big game but winning over or losing to LSU is no where in the neighborhood of Awbern. We dont even think the mascots are the same... yall have the tiger and they have cows or some sort of goofy lookin chicken. Bama should be ready for this game since it's the last home game for the seniors but... I dont see us pulling out the W. If it's even close it will only be that way for about 3 quarters. Bama doesnt have the depth or talent on defense to stop a balanced opponent. We can stack to stop the run or hedge to slow the pass but not both. My question is...what do you hear about the rumors saying Saban may move on to the NFL? Drive safe those coming to the game.
I think the biggest difference between our teams is, as the Tide fan mentioned, Alabama's depth situation. LSU is very, very deep, but Bama, per the NCAA sanctions, is not at this point. We're a very physical team, and I believe we can wear Bama down. However, I'm hoping for an explosive start for us, like we've done since the Florida debacle.
I think LSU's only obvious weakness is kicking. The freshman kickers are still a little inconsistant, but are improving. I just don't think this game will be close enough for the field goals to be critical. I think if Bama wins this one, it will be because LSU turned it over too much or collected a bunch of penalties. LSU has more talent and better coaching than Bama, right now.
