Florida will be jacked to play us. Just like MSU was. (I realize both teams are on way different talent levels, but it is still the SEC we're talking about.) I think they will make it interesting for a quarter then start to wear down from all the excess energy and emotion they will be playing with as a result of their little team meeting. This applies more to the UF's defense rather than the offense. Although UF might be pumped up and run the rock just a little, I just can't see Leak coming through with the pass game. It will be the loudest crowd he has encountered and I just don't think he will handle the schemes of Saban and Muschamp. Think of UGA's shockley. Plus, UF's o-line won't be able to stop the continous rotation of fresh legs on LSU's d-line. Quality depth shines through once again. UF's defense will be really agressive and make some stops. It will be that same aggressiveness that will get them burnt later by our skill players. People are learning the hard way that you can't double Clayton and leave man or zone coverage on Green, Henderson, Bowe, and our new more effective TE plays. UF, remember all those years you burned us with speed and then turned up the heat even more to toast the Tigers with many a lopsided victory. Well, the tides have turned guys. Payback is a bit@&. Enjoy
I also think that Leak will remind us quite a bit of Shockley, and I wouldn't expect any more poise or success than Shockley had in his brief tenure in our game against Georgia. I could be wrong, but I really don't think this will be close. Also, when are teams going to realize that Michael Clayton is not the only WR weapon on our team? I can't wait for that to sink in and for MC to stop being double covered all of the time.
nola, You hit the nail on the head. Our D is the only thing that will make this game halfway competitive for a half or so. Our O-Line is horribly coached and they are rotating the lineman constantly during the game so there is no continuity whatsoever. We run from the shotgun and use crap-a$$ bubble screens so we won't be running the rock on LSU I can promise you that. Leak will spring a damn leak in his pants when he gets a load of the fans, crowd noise, and Death Valley. Then when he gets to witness your tenacious D he will start throwing INT's all over the damn place. I really look for him to set an NCAA record for INT's in a single game. Only way he doesn't is if Ingle Martin or Gavin Dickey come in. UF's depth won't be the only thing that gets them burned, their youth will be the main reason. Don't forget over half the UF team is frosh and sophs and they have NEVER experienced Death Valley either. You're right, payback is a beotch. Just as we whooped up on you while you were down for a decade, you can now relish whooping up on the worst Florida team in over 20 years. It will stay that way until a new coach is hired.
