1. For instance, I think that Mike Price, Dave Wannstadt, and Will Muschamp could probably do a good job with the talent we have and the way things are rolling. I would think that any one of them would take our job for $800,000. There are many NFL coordinators who make $400,000 or less. Presumably, they would consider our job for double their salary. We proved that it can be a feeder for successful NFL coordinators to get big money and power in the NFL. I am not afraid of losing another coach to a head coaching gig in the NFL. I think it is great for the program. Especially, if it happens over and over, it is good for recruiting of players and coaches. There are many NFL head coaches that make less than $1,000,000. I think they would leave the NFL to double their salary to $2,000,000. When Andy Reid, Mike Tice, Jack Del Rio, Jim Haslett and others were hired originally it was for well under $1 million and that is as recent as last year. I think Mike Tice makes about $400,000.

I want what is best for the program and I know that we can afford to pay $2.5 million or even more for a big name, but we can get a big name for $800,000 or so too; I think. Can you name a candidate that no one has questions about? Why pay Butch Davis $2 million when people question his emotional health and whether Miami underachieved with the talent that he had? I will certainly not be disappointed with Butch Davis though.

I am just asking do we spend $2 million or more just because we can?

If we are, who is your number one guy that we have a realistic shot at. I would say Spurrier. We can take the $1.6 million buyout out of what we would pay him in the first year or two of his deal. I think he wants to win again and it would be alot easier in the West with LSU's talent than in the East with South Carolina's. Plus, we get to see him constantly pulling Russell and Flynn out of the game as he throws his visor.
  2. Don't get me wrong, Spurrier is a great coach and I would be elated to see him here. But, Spurrier likes to throw the ball and he is a pretty stubborn guy who I don't see changing his ways. Our offense, with all of our running backs is best operated with the focus on the running game, and I'm not sure that Spurrier would do that. But, then again, if he can get us to pass the ball like he did at UF, I'm willing to change.
  3. I like Norm Chow in the $1 million range. But thats just me.
  4. Give the guy a deal like they gave saban.. low range but with heavy incentives..
  5. When LSU hired Saban didn't they make him the third highest paid coach in college right off the bat?
  6. "Bargain candidates" or "value plays" got us Hallman, Dinardo, Brady. They were all considered good prospects for the money they could command. Do we want that again?

I think this whole Saban to the NFL fiasco has shown us and the rest of the country that the LSU Head Football Coach is one of the top coaching jobs in the country, period. When many members of the national media say that they believe Saban should stay at LSU because the LSU job is better than the job with the Dolphins, that speaks volumes. It speaks volumes to coaches around the country, and coaches have seen the reasons for Saban taking the job five years ago from the results he has produced. We CAN get an excellent coach should Saban decide to move on. Let's get the best one we can get.
  7. Ask Joe Dean about bargain candidates...
  8. LMAO

Yeah ... how about Evangel Coach (When I'm finished taking a **** I'm) Dunn

LSU could get him for about 275K ... a real steal ... You always liked those Independence Bowls, huh, max

Really, people ... wake up and smell the ****ing coffee ... you gotta pay to play ... Saban taught us that much

It ain't over yet anyway ... I am hearing from a good source that Dumpster Boy Wayne won't "cough" green during Sexton's body cavity search attempts.
  9. I say pony up the big bucks and get Spurrier away from South Carolina.
  10. Spurrier tried to run/pass about 50/50 when he was at UF. If the running game didn't work he would pass more or if they were in catch up mode.
