Lucas is a stud, but I thought I had read somewhere that he was very interested in Florida State. He would have a chance to play as a freshman there and would probably be a redshirt at LSU unless he's willing to take the Barrington Edwards route and play mostly on special teams. Lucas is from my alma mater and after two state titles, he will be missed. :geaux:
I read where Jay Lucas himself said that he's 90% sure he's going to LSU and if that doesn't work out then probably FSU. He also said he doesn't have time to worry about where cuz he's mainly focused on retaking his ACT. This about covers it.
Oh, Max Emfinger has Jacob Hester listed as an Ultimate Super Seven as a fullback/H-Back. He's definitely no slouch. [/B][/QUOTE] uh i have no doubt about Saban's judgement in talent but Emfinger is really not someone i hold in high regards of judging talent. remember that player about 5 years ago that max said was a superstar and was like the top 3 or so in whatever position it was? well come to find out the kid never existed!
Lucas said in the recent update on insiders like a day ago that he is 90% sure of going to LSU but needs to work hard in school and get his ACT score up as he hasn't q'd yet. He could always do what Justin did also, which would also put him another year in back of the 3 freshman. Anyway, never think we will be overlaoded at any position, we will take all of the great ones we can, then the lesser players transfer out, just like this year.
Thanks everybody for the update. It seemed to me several weeks ago that Lucas was a shoo-in for an LSU scholarship and education. My confusion is caused perhaps by my mistaken impression of the quality of a Redemptorist education. For some reason I thought that private Catholic schools offered a college preparatory education. I hope he is able to get his affairs in order because he is obviously a very talented running back and I for one would love to watch him play in purple and gold on saturday nights in Tiger Stadium. :geaux:
Lucas does not have the grades at present. He will be a Tiger if really ofered and makes grades. Saban is looking for a couple to come in Jan. 04. If no grades, he might take that route if he has core.
Come on; give the guy a break! As many players as Emsfinger rates year in and year out, he's bound to muff a certain percentage of them, like they all do. If Emsfinger didn’t know what he was doing, no doubt he wouldn't stay in business very long. The fact is Emsfinger is one of the best as what he does.
Jay Lucas is very high on LSU's list of remaining players to sign. Jimbo Fisher was at 3 Redemptorist practices in the 2 weeks leading up to the LHSAA championship game. I have several friends on the RHS coaching staff, and according to them Jimbo has said that Jay Lucas is #2 on LSU's list of players to sign (of the group that hasn't committed already) behind Early Doucet. All signs point to Jay becoming a Tiger, because he really doesn't want to be far away from his mother (if he went to Florida State) because he's a mama's boy at heart. They've said that he's a point short on his ACT, so he's got a little work to do, but that he's really a good kid. I imagine he'll be a Tiger when all is said and done. If I hear anything more, I'll be sure to post it here.
