Once upon a time, the polls declared their champions prior to any bowls. The Downtown Athletic Club has never seen the logic however. If the award had been chosen after this past bowl season, who wins?

Since the Heisman Voters are dumbasses, they would probably pick Jared Zebrankcsy.

They may have voted some questionable winners in the past, Reggie Bush (geez, it kills me to say it), Gary Beban, and Gino Torreta to name a few, but I don't think Jared Zabransky would have been voted in.

It's an interesting discussion. On the one hand, you could argue that Heisman winners are players that carry their team to national prominence and yet you could also say that the best players are often overlooked because their teams are not necessarily winning or competing for the NC. It happens in all sports though. Should Big Papi have been considered for MVP last year? Would Justin Morneau have been the MVP if the Twins hadn't been Al Central Champs? I don't know but personally I think awards should be given prior to any post-season activity.

Troy Smith wins because the voters are ODd on Kool Aid by mid season.

The Heisman club is a fraternity marketed as the premier individual award for college football. Just ask Peyton Manning, Joe Montana and Vince Young to name a few. If you play at USC you start out with 100 votes in your pocket.

I don't want it to be after bowl season, because it would just go to the top player on whatever team won the NC & that would be pointless - they already have an MVP award.

Larry Fitzgerald would have won like he should have anyways.
