I hate to bring this up, but even if Ohio St and USC both lose and LSU wins out, I don't think that we are a lock to play in the Sugar Bowl. Since the computer polls have been, are, and will continue to screw LSU it is not inconceivable to have Oklahoma play a 2 loss Michigan, Texas (what a freaking joke that would be) or god-forbid TCU team. Any thoughts?
It has to come down to a loss causing a HUGE point increase in the BCS. That's why Florida State is now solidly out of the Sugar Bowl hunt with two losses, even though they are a media darling (why? but I digress).
trust me when i say this. if there is only 1 one loss BCS team left and an undefeated OU after all is said and done, those two teams will meat in the Sugar Bowl. the polls will magically "fix" themselves into that matchup taking place. this is why the BCS is BS.
The BCS won't have to do anything magically to get that type of matchup b/c that is what it is designed to do. If Ohio St and SC both lose, and we win out . . . we will play OU in the Sugar, plain and simple. The BCS and the voters will not keep a 1 loss SEC team out of the BCS over a 2 loss BCS conference team. I can understand hating the ranking systems or even the BCS rankings, but the BCS isn't meant to give you the #1 and #2 teams until the end of the season, when it can factor in the entire season. LSU, as a BCS conference member, will not be left out of the Sugar if we are the only 1 loss team left standing.
