    This is very unlikely, but...

How do you thing people wuld react if Bush won the popular vote and Kerry won the electoral vote?

Would Republicans say that the electoral college is the law of the land and concede defeat? Or would they cry about it being unfair because Bush got more votes and he is the will of the people? If they did that, they would be admitting that they were wrong 4 years ago and only wanted to win at any cost?

Would Democrats still claim (as they did 4 years ago) that the popular vote is most important and concede defeat? Or would they say "Nyah nyah nyah, now you know what we felt like 4 years ago" and claim that it should be the electoral college that counts - therefore admitting that they were lying 4 years ago and only want to win at any cost?

I think the Republican party is one who wants people to take personal responsibility, and as a general rule (yes there are exceptions b/c many politicians are dirty) we feel that you do not change the rules to suit your particular need.
The elite liberals do more of trying to bend the rules for 'the will of the people' b/c they know what we want more than we do.

So I would think/hope that we would handle defeat much more graciously than the democrats did.

We LIVE in a Republic not a democracy there for the electorial college picks the president not the popular vote.
If we went by popular voting the east and west coasts would pick the president and the election would be over, people in rural areas and states wouldn't have any need to vote and there would be no need for a candidate to ever go to places like Colorado,
    Wyoming, etc.
The electorial college gives rural states and areas as much voting power as NYC.

When Clinton won the elections the republican party didn't react like the Dems, Thank God!
We believe in fairness and have good morals meaning that we don't change the rules to suit our needs.

That is the difference between democrats and republicans.
If Kerry wins I'll have to live with it and I won't ask for a recount or try and change the system.

I don't think the Republicans would throw a fit like the Democrats did in 2000, mainly because I think Bush has more character than that. He said today that the people were going to decide and I think he's the type of person that will stand by that. I also think they would use it to their advantage, showing that they were bigger by conceding defeat rather than throwing a temper tantrum. The last thing this country needs during a time of war is uncertainty about who their next President will be, AFTER the election.

Bush would be gracious in defeat and the Democrats would not bring up 2000 ever again.
