I want him to harshly refute any idea that race had a single thing to do with his decision making. I know it, you know it (unless you are Rex) but he needs to not only categorically deny it but come out swinging at those who have suggested it (Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton among others). His wife called it disgusting, and that is a great start. But do not pussyfoot around this issue, grab it head on and bury it.
After 9/11 we were all Americans. After Hurricane Katrina I feel we are back to being black or white.

He can say until he's blue in the face. But people that want to believe it will believe it no matter what. A politician denying something never meant that it wasn't true.

Kanye West was the one who came out & said, "President Bush doesn't care about black people." This, from the man who's CD is entitled "College Dropout" is supposed to be in a position to analyze & criticize our president...

I agree with Contained & martin. Who cares if he denies it. Does it make you sleep better, uscpuke? It doesn't matter to me.

Hurricane Katrina did bring out the racism in this country, but not by Pres Bush. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton & Kanye West are some of the most racists people on the planet & this gave them their pedestal.

"to help his people". If he could, he'd stop it from helping white people at all.

It sure does matter to me. I am tired of civil right leaders trying to use race in every facet of life. And I am tired of people being too afraid to stand up to it.

And President Bush denying that he doesn't hate black people some how does that?

I hate it too. I stand up to it every chance I get. Politicians don't have the balls to stand up against something like this, that's both how & why they are politicians.

Actually you guys are right. The whole race thing is why I typically stay away from news and current events. Life is too short to get pissed off every time an ignorant ass mouthes off.
But with the hurricane it is constantly on and tough not to follow. I will go back into my shell once this passes and not let it bother me.

It's because standing up against Jesse Jackson is 'racist', even though they're more racist than anyone out there. It's more of a double standard than anything that JJ or Sharpton is complaining about.
