Now that the National Championship is definitely out of the question and it doesn't look very likely that we will make it to Atlanta, what goals can we set for the rest of the year? I think it would be great to set up JaMarcus Russell as the starter going into Florida. Russell's gotten lots of quality playing time, but why hasn't he been given a chance to take the field as the starter yet? I think having Russell as the starter will allow him to improve, and also begin to set up team chemistry for the next 3-4 years with him hooking up with Dwayne Bowe, X. Carter, E. Doucet, and Buster Davis. I'd like to see us develope our future today, in a season that's already out of title contention. Secondly, I'd like to see us go unbeaten at home this year. I want to see us start to establish a home field advantage the likes of the Swamp in the 90's. I want teams to be coming into Tiger Stadium feeling the pressure of not being able to make a mistake. The table has been set up for us to run at home, let's go take care of business. Third, I think with a win over Florida, we can start to gain confidence as a club again and make our usual end of the year run to a quality bowl game, and a bowl win. I look for big things next year, but there are still some great things we can accomplish this year. What are some other goals you would like to see us attain this year?
I'm going to bump this up and see if I can get some discussion going now that the initial pain has passed.
I have two goals. 1. continue to support the tigers for the rest of the home games this year as they hopefully go undefeated at home. 2. Go to the Georgia Dome and support the EAST division representative as they hopefully defeat auburn. How many years does tubberville stay at Auburn if he doesn't win a SECCG. I say Nick can go a full Decade without winning the SECCG before a meltdown would occur.
How do you not go the rest of the way without starting Russell *and* getting Flynn as much PT as possible? Too much talent, too "good" a schedule in 2005 to do anything but resolve your QB play once and for all. Play Russell, mix in Flynn, and have Randall in reserve in case of injuries. Oh, and take a hard look at the JUCO ranks for a placekicker this offseason.
Maybe Randall can kick Extra Points I agree I predicted 8-3 and that is a very attainable goal. As for Auburn, they are great this year, but win another SEC title in another year and sprinkle in a National Title and get back to us.
One very good goal would be for our players to re-learn how to tackle. Another good thing would be for our offense to achieve a level of consistency. Another nice thing would be for Spears to look down the line and wake some people the hell up - the last person Melvin Oliver hit was his girlfriend...
The main thing I want to see is for our offense to click and our defense to tackle better. This team still could be very good. All it takes is a little time. If Russell does not start this week, I will be bewildered.
the goals are to win out the rest of the games and build some confidence for next year (and oh by the way go to a half a** bowl game)..........this process has just begun.......hail coach saban!!!!!!
My wish is for LSU to win a game and not have to listen to people complaining about every little thing that didn't go well. Also, to play the players who give us the best chance to win, because the more wins we get, the better our recruiting will be. The better bowl we get, the more money in the coffers to help the program down the road. I'm not at all for "sacrificing" this year in order to better prepare a player for next year. That's what practice, film studying and just plain effort are for. My goal, though, is to win out and play on 1/1/05 or later.
