I say no frickin' way, but all the major media outlets are reporting a 'what-if' scenario that could have OU finishing 2nd behind USC and in front of LSU in the human polls. This would get us to the result of OU-USC in the Sugar. I can't see any rationale basis for this based on the thumping OU got tonight. NONE. Neither LSU nor USC took such a butt-whipping. Both LSU and USC are clearly better teams now. I hate to say this, but if OU gets voted #2 in the human polls at our expense, then I am going to be convinced that the fix is on. What do y'all think?
No way. Their will be a huge outcry if that happens. After that azz kickin they HAVE to be dropped to 3rd.
That would be crap. That means the AP writers would have broken a long standing precedent. I could see it if K State barely squeaked by OU, but not with the blowout. If things happen as they should, OU would be dropped to the back of the 1-loss teams. You lose late, you pay more - that has always been the AP's MO. But...stranger things have happened, I guess... We'll see tomorrow!
They're lucky to stay 3rd.... A "ROUT" or 28+ point win usually dumps a team. Not surprised to see Mich get #3 & OKLA #4 ... we'll see
This is what I feared most after Syacuse took care of business. I have to admit before today, I didn't consider OU losing....in fact my post on the BCS stuff does not mention anything about OU/K-State. It was an afterthought. But as I watched helplessly as OU screwed up what was lining up as a 2:30 AM theft of the #2 spot of LSU from USC, I realized that now the pollsters control who goes to the big dance. So here we have it. The media talked all week long how we got the matchup we "wanted" in the Sugar Bowl between USC and OU. Does this carryover to the AP voting for this scenario, or do they vote with honor and either elevate USC or LSU to #1 in the nation, with the other a solid #2. I predict the latter. It's the only human thing to do. And afteall, these are the "human" polls.
It's funny because I am listening to this idiot on the radio out here. He was asked by a caller whether the voters should purposely vote OU #2 to get to the result of an OU-USC matchup in the Sugar. His response? "I don't know if they would fix the Sugar Bowl, but I think that would be the best thing to do and would certainly give the Sugar better ratings." What. Must be smoking something. Pass the pako lolo, buddy!
I heard him, too. what an a$$hole. He also said LSU doesn't deserve to be in the NC game. WTF? OU is the one who doesn't deserve to be there.
This is what I think is going on. The show that ended prior to this one was replete with callers wanting LSU-USC. Well, I guess this guy knows that he isn't going to get that matchup. i guess he knows that. So he is left with LSU-USC as an either, or situation. Since he sees it that way, he just has to trash LSU so he can elevate USC's cause. That's a sell out. He should take the higher road and call it like it is. It should be LSU against USC. End of story. For whatever reason, these So.Cal. media types don't seem to want this matchup even if the fans do. Maybe they are afraid of our D and fear playing us at "home."
