Finally some cold weather is coming. My favorite winter meals are: Chilli (texas chilli--no beans, no tomatoes served over hash browns) Beef stew (I like a chuckwagon stew with cumin and green chillis) Chicken and dumplin's (the way mom makes it) Beef stew again ( I also like a Belgian beef stew cooked with mushrooms and wine) Lay some more suggestions on me. It might be a cold winter.
i have no preference given the season. Its a gumbo life for me. Preferably seafood made by my aunt. she buys like 200 bucks worth of crabmeat/shrimp and piles it on. I happily visit and gorge. next is corn and shrimp soup. both run a close race yet i can eat a lot more gumbo which makes it better.
UHHH!!! Oh yeah sorry I was looking at tirk's signature and forgot what I was doing. Gumbo. Eat until full then have one more bowl. Allow to swell in stomach until uncomfortable. Put on the saints game and prepare for the nap of a lifetime.
Since I'm in Boston, New England Clam Chowder. I'm going to a place tonight that makes it so thick the spoon stands straight up in the bowl.
Potato Soup, Beef Stew, Chili, Dumplins (no chicken) and warm chocolate sauce over pound cake. Yummm!
Red Beans and Rice and hot Cornbread French Market Soup (that kind with the dozen or so kinds of peas/beans, chicken and sausage) Chicken and Sausage Sauce Piquante Big ole lima beans with sausage and hot cornbread Smothered steak with rice and gravy Hamburger steak with gravy and onions (truckstop style) Hot cornbread with hot cornbread :thumb: (your post has prompted me to go to the grocery store...30 degrees here tonite)
