http://www.uhnd.com/articles/2006/football/385/ They think the rematch issue is a big deal and that LSU will get the Rose Bowl bid over them. "Another thing to consider is that the idea of rematches has been a hot topic lately. For that reason, I think the Rose Bowl will select LSU over Notre Dame to avoid a rematch of Notre Dame and Michigan." http://notredame.scout.com/2/594515.html "Until the Irish beat a top 10 team, a B.C.S.-quality team, they have no argument to suggest they belong there, either. Accept that, Irish fans." http://media.www.ndsmcobserver.com/...server.com&MIIHost=media.collegepublisher.com "I think that we got beat pretty good and we'll be very happy to go to any BCS game that picks us," Weis said. A reporter asked if the rumors were true that the Sugar Bowl officials had said they would take the Irish if they were available regardless of other team's availability. Weis' response to that was simple. "If New Orleans ends up picking us, sign me up," he said. "Let's go." http://jgwebblogs.typepad.com/notre_dame/2006/11/still_in_lathe_.html
Straight from their forum: "Notre Dame is not back" http://www.notredamefans.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=12980 "Which bowl do you want ND to go to?" http://www.notredamefans.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=13006
In one of the articles I posted today, I was shocked to find out that ND has lost 8 straight Bowl games. I never realized that, no wonder fans are upset with their program. That is almost worse than actually making a bowl. This could be the 9th season in a row that the fans and team have to think about that last loss during the Summer. Dont get me wrong, I would rather lose in a bowl rather than not making one but momentum into Summer workouts can be crucial for a team in tearms of motivation, confidence, and recruiting.
This is from the last article islstl posted: Posted by: rockmcd | November 28, 2006 at 02:32 PM If West Virginia beats Rutgers, which I suspect will happen, then Notre Dame is assured a spot. Even if Rutgers should win, Notre Dame may get a spot over Louisville, but that may cause some controversy. As for which Bowl Game I'd prefer to be in. I'd prefer the "Sugar Bowl." Only because we already played Michigan and a rematch doesn't have much appeal for me. But also because the Irish has shown that we are not as good as the top three teams in the nation (Ohio State, USC, Michigan) and losing another Bowl game would be too depressing. If we play either Arkansas (who I believe will win the SEC championship this weekend) or Florida it will give the Irish the opportunity to prove that it is at least a top tier (top ten) team. We may not be as good as Ohio State-Michigan-USC, but I think we are better than Florida, Arkansas:nope: and especially West Virginia and Louisville. In my opinion, the SEC and the Big East were overrated conferences this year.:dis: The PAC-10 was the best, and Ohio State and/or Michigan were excellent teams. Our record may have been skewed by the fact that we played two of the top three teams this year:hihi: . If, like Florida, we had played a couple of 1-AA teams, Florida State and then the SEC schedule we'd be undefeated . Same goes for the teams in the Big East. After all, what quality non-conference wins have any of them had? Only Tennessee who beat a 9-3 California team. A show-down in the Sugar Bowl would properly determine where Notre Dame stacks up in the nation. I do not know where this guy has been this year, he must not watch football. LMAO, Bama delusion is spreading rapidly.:hihi:
Umm, let's take a look at the recruiting over the past few years.. Per rivals (final ranking in recruiting by year) 2003- USC #3......Notre Dame #12 2004- USC #1......Notre Dame (not ranked) 2005- USC #1......Notre Dame (not ranked) 2006- USC #1......Notre Dame #8 I think it's pretty safe to say there's a huge disparity in talent.
