I have heard that they are both eligible and will be both re-signed. However, their signatures will count toward 2003's recruits.

If I remember correctly, the most recruits that can be signed in any one year is 25, and so far 21 recruits have verbally committed to LSU, which means LSU has room for 4 more commitments.

However, if those two guys count toward 2004's recruits instead, then that would mean that LSU has room for only 2 more commitments.

Well, you can have more than 25 commitments, just a long as some don't qualify, right?.......

    Washington is eligible and practiced

with team during bowl practice. Looked great and will play next year. Johnson not eligible yet. Hasn't passed h.s. exit exam. Washington will count towards this years signees as LSU used all 25 last year.

It was posted on here some time back that these 2 guys count towards the 2004 list (if they qualify obviously).

You can get more than 25 committments, LSU has done this almost every year lately. Those that do not qualify academically will not count. Then I hear you can also place a couple of them in the TOPs program, which is a very limited scholarship of sorts. I guess they use those for walk-ons however.

We will probably get 28 recruits, plus Washington would give us 29. A couple will probably be ineligible and a couple more will transfer out possibly.

where are you getting this? 29 signees is a far fetched number from a quick look at the total number of scholarship players on the team now. 29 and coach saban has to make many nasty decisions. tops program helps some, but 29 signees is far fetched

We will end up with 28.....book it.

Favorite and Lucas are locks. Carter, Watkins and Herman Johnson are leaning and Saban will pull em in. Watkins visits LSU last, which I think is always a slight advantage to that school. Same thing with Herman Johnson.

Kerry Franks is torn between LSU and Texas A&M and OSU. His dad played for Oklahoma St., that's the only thing concerning me. He could play backup at the slot receiver position (with a true 4.4 speed).

Marcus Walker will visit on the 16th. Even though he favors OU or Fla. St., I think LSU will be in the running after his visit here. It just depends how hard we go after him. My guess is we will try our best to get him.

Then LSU has somewhat of a shot at players like Tony Bell, DJ Hall, Tyease Thompson, Philip Mbakogu, Calvin Darity, Brandon Braxton, Pat White and Thomas Herring.

So even if we don't steal away Walker and Franks, out of that list LSU is sure to get a couple of them.

Since Saban has been here, these are the number of recruits he has gotten commitments from:

    2000 - 28
    2001 - 27
    2002 - 26
    2003 - 28

It's a common thing to go over your limit. Gives you the flexibility for academically ineligible and other circumstances.
