Does this little game on ESPN2 right now have any effect what so ever on us? I mean....is one of those two teams an opponent's opponent or something?
North Texas lost to OU who beat Bama who was smashed by LSU. NMState lost to ULL, beat ULM, lost to Arkie, lost to Oregon State who played USC....man this is like figgerin out an Arkansas family tree...
Since New Mexico State played 3 of our opponents and only one of USC's opponents, it would help us more for New Mexico State to win. It would improve our Opponent's Opponents records to 3-0 and USC would only gain a 1-0 record. Believe it or not, this is how SOS is determined.
That's actually not true. New Mexico State played Arkansas, Oregon State, UL-Monroe. North Texas played Arkansas, and UL-Monroe. New Mexico State includes one of USC's opponents, where as North Texas plays no USC opponents. North Texas and New Mexico each play two of our opponents, so that's a wash. So actually it's better that North Texas won. It gives us one more in the Opponents-Opponents category.
DarkHornet is 100% correct. I'm telling you guys, root for all of the "good" teams like N Texas, UAB, etc. You never know if that 1/100th of a BCS point will come from a game like this come Dec. 8. Therefore, if you're a loser like me and are counting at home, it's good BCS win for LSU 1, good BCS win for USC 0 so far this week.
Well I was using some faulty and/or incomplete info from Eauxkie, so don't blame me. I was just explaining how it worked based on an example from his info he gave. But you are exactly correct, every damn game counts!!!!!!! It's one for LSU. May the football gods be with us!
No problem, I had to go recheck myself. I actually hadn't seen that New Mexico State had played Arkansas til I rechecked.
