He really should join the party before they nominate him for president. It would be the polite thing to do. story
Uh-oh! His flip-flopping phase may not be over yet. Don't get me wrong, while some things are being thrown up as red flags, I like Wesley Clark, and I don't think he would make a bad President. I just don't think he'd make a very good President either. Thing is, I consider myself pretty conservative, and I like him. So he does have some broad cross-over and "middle-ground" appeal. And that's exactly why he won't get the nomination. At this stage of the game, the Fringe Left, L-cubed, is controlling the Democratic nomination process. And they HATE Wesley Clark (I've already seen him being referred to as "Bush-lite" and "The Butcher of Serbia" on some of the more radical left-wing boards) and LOVE Howard Dean. Let's hope these people are not really in charge of the Democratic Party at the moment. Because I would just LOVE the full-out ideological brawl that would result from a Bush-Dean contest in 2004. And the crushing GOP victory that would come afterwards.
The best thing that can happen to Bush.... is a full scale battle by the Demos for the top spot. Dean is a case but not Presidential material. The Demos also have to decide if the want to follow their ideology or beat Bush. It will be interesting...
