Democrats take control of house and they are closing in on the senate. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,227961,00.html my guess is the impeachment process will soon follow this and nothing will get done the next two years
i don't see the democrats taking the senate this year....the 4 races that are close are all in slight favor of the gop
Not a chance. The republicans attempts to impeach Clinton over 8 years was the beginning of the current partisan warfare on the Hill. The democrats are looking to 2008. They will make Bush a very lame duck for two years, but they will not raise the partisan bickering level because the voters don't like it. Two more years of Bush failures is a sure, huge win for the Democrats in 2008 if they play their cards right. What you are going to see is House commitees finally getting legislation to the floor that Haster would not allow out of committee. Popular bills like border protection, raising the minimum wage, etc. Bush will either have to make compromises with the Democrats or veto popular legislation during the 2008 campaign.
looks like Webb might pull it through in Virginia. Webb has 50% with 99% reporting....just got a few strong democratic precincts in
There will not be an impeachment process, but I expect a lot of investigations and you are right about nothing getting done at least by the White House. Expect a fight amoung Republicans for house leadership.
They just passed a bill on border protection. It wasn't the comprehensive bill that Bush wanted but it was probably better than nothing. Hopefully one of the few good things to come out of this election will be a more comprehensive approach to the immigration problem.
they could just pull it off.....cnn saying outstanding precints in missouri mainly democratic territory
better than Hastert.... Hastert generated controversy on 1 September 2005 when he said spending federal money to rebuild New Orleans from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina "doesn't make sense to me." Hastert went on to say that "It looks like a lot of that place could be bulldozed." -http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2002466132_kathast02.html In September of 2006, it was revealed that Speaker Hastert's office had been aware for over a year that Representative Mark Foley (Republican, Florida) had sent inappropriate e-mails to a 16-year old former congressional page in 2005. Foley had been told, by the chair of the three-person committee that oversaw the page program, to stop sending inappropriate emails, but no other action had been taken, nor any further investigation made into Foley's behavior. -http://www.rollcall.com/issues/1_1/breakingnews/15259-1.html
(left of center) This country's a mess. Any true democrat wouldn't want any part of it ("control") over the next 6 years. Hopefully Hillary gets beat down in 2008 and by 2012 the country will be so f'd up that Barack Hussain Obama will be able to get us going in the right direction. Well, when I say us, I mean the Mexicans.
