that was crappy football, bottom line. There is no reason this game should have been close. We could not run the ball, and after the first drive we could not pass the ball until the last drive. This team just does not have the "want to" to put teams away early like last year's team did. With that said, I will take the win and enjoy life. I felt strongly that we would win out after the Florida game, now I am re-examining that some beacuase we are so inconsistant. Arkansas and Bama will be tough games for us. Finally, I blame the purple jerseys as well. Both times they were worn this year we almost lost. WEAR WHITE!
Blame? start with Offensive line. It's been our problem all year, not dominating off the line. We showed some signs of it in the 4th qtr at Florida. Whew that was too close for comfort!
We don't have the option of wearing white, Oregon State denied us that right and I bet Troy did the same.
The defense still isn't playing up to their potential as well. Still missing way too many tackles, basic fundamentals on defense. Saban is losing his mind over this. Last year, you can count on both hands how many missed tackles we had. This year, you can count just as many in 1 single game.
This game was WAYYY too reminiscent of the UAB game a few years ago, except we won this one despite the turnovers. Just when I thought this team had found and identity, we have a game like this. As others have stated, the O-line struggled for sure, but it's not anything we haven't seen all year. Defenses are going to keep stacking the box with 8-9 people to stop the run until we prove we have a consistent passing attack.
We got the win but...........we are a very average team at best. Capable of beating some good teams, but it would take our A game against a good teams B or C game. Color of jerseys and stuff like that has nothing to do with it, and if it does, we are not even average.
It is hard to argue looking backwards. That is why I posted so many "don't give me that wet field crap" after the OU game post or reply's Its not a wet field and its not the color of your jersey. It's x's and o's.
