Haven't been here all weekend and don't know if anyone has posted this on a thread.

While it is highly unlikely, we could still win the west w/o Auburn having to lose 3 games. If the War Hens were to lose to Bama and Arkansas and Arkansas were to lose only to LSU and UF in the SEC, then we would win the west. It's highly unlikely that this will happen but after all of the big losses that went our way at the end of last season I say never say never.

If we ended up in a 3 way tie with Auburn and Arkansas the first tiebreaker after head to head, which would not resolve anything, would be Western Conference records. That would knock Auburn out of the tie and then LSU would win the west by virtue of beating the Hogs.

Just thought I would post this in case anybody was interested and hadn't thought about that yet.

If the above senario plays out, our game against the hogs will be for the SEC West ! That would be cool.

This sounds like something I would have posted.

    Nice info to know.

You just never know is all I have to say. The only stretch is Arkansas beating Auburn. But like you said, after watching Georgia blow it at home against Tennessee, anything is possible. LSU beating Arkansas is expected at this point. Arkansas not losing any more games other than the LSU game (and since they already loss to Florida), then that part of the scenario is complete.
But Arkansas still has Georgia at home and South Carolina on the road. I just can't see the Razorbacks running the table leading up the LSU game. And if they do, then the LSU/Arkansas game suddenly becomes a tossup.

Alabama beating Auburn is capable of happening in any year, no matter what, and visa versa. So I definitely don't count out this scenario.

Tennessee is in the driver's seat in the West of course. They run the table and it's all over. Georgia still has to play Auburn. Florida already has 2 losses.

LSU vs. Tennessee in a rematch of the 2001 CG. Interesting. Very interesting.

One thing going against Arkansas is that they lost the Hillis guy to injury. He's big and he's good. But as we all know the hogs have a way of pulling out some games.

This scenario requires Alabama to beat Auburn, even Ramah wouldn't take that bet! Bama has lost Brodie Croyle (starting QB) and Ray Hudson (#1 RB) for the year. They are still very thin and it is extremely unlikely that Alabama could beat any of the top SEC teams. If Bama did beat Auburn, that would be the upset of the year in the SEC. Don't think it'll happen. :dis: :geaux:

I like your optimism cajdav, but Auburns remaining opponents were much better teams in '01 when we backed into Atlanta. Next years schedule is favorable. I aint gonna say no way, but it's crazy to think that scenario would play out. :) :)

While highly unlikely, don't rule it out just yet. If Auburn stumbles against Arkansas, that's 1 loss, but they'll probably still be in the top 10. If they happen to beat Georgia, they'll move up again. With Alabama being the last game of their season, the Tide would like nothing more than to ruin Auburn's chance at an SEC Championship, or....God help us, and National Championship. When those two teams play, throw out all stats.

Arkansas could maybe beat Auburn if they stop the run and have a good offensive gameplan. Georgia could also beat Auburn if Greene shows up that day. That's 2....then there's Bama, possibly 3 losses. Plus, you never know who might get hurt. If Auburn loses Jason Campbell or Cadillac to injury, there season is just about shot.

Then.....they could always finish undefeated and end up in the Orange Bowl. Who knows.....
