And what is the reason the Athletes cannot get any kind of payment for what they do on the field. I guess the NCAA and the Universities do not want to share any of their HARD EARNED PROFITS with the ones that REALLY EARNED IT.:geauxtige  LSU! :usaflagwa LSU! :geauxtige

The main reason there won't be a play off is because of money. It would cost the fans too much money and their would be poor attendance. The majority of people would stay home and go to the championship game and not the playoff games.

If it takes 3 games to get to the championship game, then that means that the fans have to buy 3 separate tickets to each game. If it is at 3 different locations, then factor in 3 plane tickets per person and hotel rooms.

I want a playoff as much as anyone but I just don't see it happening. The closest we might get is a +1.

i dont buy it. if lsu was playing usc this week in miami or tempe or whereever, do you think there would be less than 20000 lsu fans there. would you personally miss this big game in the hopes that lsu wins and you get to go see them play michigan.

the real solution is to have an nfl style playoff with 8 teams (not at neutral sites) and tell the bowl people to go f___ themselves. but i imagine the presidents pockets are getting greased from the bowl people. sooooo, much more money would be generated with a real playoff (mostly from tv).

Personally, I would go to all of the games. I would rack up the credit card bill and pay it off one day. I was just stating one of the many reasons why they won't have a playoff.

I was having a brain fart and didn't think of not using neutral sights.

you're correct that it is about "the money," but IMO it has little to do with attendence or the money spent by traveling fans.

Currently, bowl moneys and tv revenues are divided only among the BCS programs. If the NCAA presidents were to support a playoff, they would then run two risks.

The first risk would be in jeopardizing their status as a tax-exempt entertainment business, which in reality it really is.

The second is that the pool of money would, by charter, be divided by all NCAA member institutions, not just those that are current members of the BCS. In other words, there would be more overall money to divide, but it would be divided among a greater number of recipients, thus resulting in a net decline to those BCS schools.
