I have to be objective and say this. Our offensive line is vastly overrated. This was thought to be our strength, but we are not running the football as effectively as I thought we would.

We can not be one dimensional and beat good teams. I'm not bashing Mauck, but if he has to throw 25 to 30 passes in a football game we are going to struggle offensively. I donn't think Mauck has the talent to win a game with his arm.

If we donn't run the ball better, and put him in better down and distance situations, the offense is going to continue to stuggle in this game.

If Ole Miss can run the ball on this team in the Swamp, we should be able to you would think.

    Can't say you are wrong.

Nobody can say you are wrong today, that's for sure.

    I agree, i don't understand the coach's gameplan.

Florida's defense isn't known for stopping the run this year

After re-watching the game I think we Phy. could have run the ball but because of penalties and down and distance running was out of the question. (2nd and 20..... 3rd and 30......)
In the 4th quarter It was to late to run the ball. Mauck has a awful game.

Any doubt how much we miss Shyrone Carey? Addai just doesn't get it done. None of the Freshmen have impressed me so far. They'll get their chance now.

It's not that we can't run, its that we didn't. Now with Carey and Addai out, I don't think we will next week either.

The offensive line has done a fine job at pass protection but doesn't seem to be opening holes for the run. Part of it may be that opponents are using last years book on LSU again. Put 8 men in the box and challenge the QB to beat them with the pass. Saturday, he could not do it.

red55, UF didn't use 8 men in the box yesterday at any point. Matter of fact, they regularly dropped EVERYONE into pass coverage against the Tigers...

They had the advantage of having to only go against Addai-who some consider to be only the 2nd best at LSU behind Carey-and Vincent. When Addai was injured, you were down to a running back who had all of ZERO career carries in a meaningful situation in an SEC game.

I'm disappointed that LSU didn't at least TRY to let Vincent make some plays or allow our offense to lean on him, in light of Mauck's underwhelming performance. It was as if we gave our running game a big vote of no confidence. As if we just allowed ourselves to go down with the ship when even the rats were jumping off.

How difficult is it to surmise that the passing game was just not in sync? If it's not, then why not go to the run?

We can run the ball just fine. We're not going to have 100+ yard rushers because we have Addai and Carey as basically 1 and 1A. that means that one might go for 86 or 87 one day, but not 100+ because the other has about 55 or 60...

Some people get caught up with statistics and say we can't run because we don't have a dominating rusher-statistics wise. I think we can run just fine, but we didn't because of stubborn and/or timidity in our playcalling philosophy...

I think Jimbo is committed to the balanced offense, but you have a point. In at least one game last year, Nick overruled Jimbo and LSU started pounding out a running game that worked well for us. Perhaps he hasn't the confidence in the young RBs that he had when Toefield and Davis were back there.

    Call me Old School.

If our OL is as good as some say it is, then run until they prove that they can stop you. That's not an absolute theory with me, but I wish Jimbo were more willing to commit to the run on more occasions.
