The only way to win the war in Afghanistan is to get Americans to settle there. But no Americans want to live there, so all the opposition has to do is outwait us.... What morons couldn't win in that situation? Unless you are going to wage war according to medieval type rules and slaughter all the women and children, burn down all the villages and salt the earth and then move on....but we won't do that. We can't because we are supposed to be building a "democratic" state. What a laugh. It's a disaster and it will not improve. The really unbelievable thing is now they have Iran in their sites. I wouldn't be suprised if they start a war with Iran to see the damn thing go nuclear at some stage. We don't have the manpower to occupy Iran and the Iranians could cause us a helluva lot of trouble. If push comes to shove I think the lunatics in charge of this country will go to the nuclear option.
The US has had Iran in their sights for a long time now. I think sometimes that the whole reason we're over there in Afghanistan and Iraq is because when the time comes for us and Iran to battle it out, and it will eventually, we're essentially already in position to the east(Afghanistan) and west (Iraq/Saudi Arabia) of them. Time will tell.
The problem is people not willing to declare the war and get Congress fully behind it. If they thought they could have got the votes they would have but they didn't. I'm all for going in and getting it done. We could blow the whole ****ing middle east up for all I care. This mettling is just ridiculous and playing like we are helping out democracy is just a scam. Call it what it is. And get it over with. Otherwise stop wasting our money and people's lives.
What a terrible strategy. We have to invade, and nation build in two countries because we might have to go to war with a third? Not to mention that the terrain between Afghanistan and Iran is not condusive to moving an invading army.
I didn't mean to imply that's for sure what's going on, I'm just saying it seems that way sometimes. Maybe I could have worded it differently. Then again, I'm just some internet guy that didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night so what do I know?
We could let al qaeda regroup and strengthen and let Iran develop nuclear weapons then just hope nothing happens to us as a result. Would that make everybody happy? By the way, the spelling and word usage in this thread is embarrasing. It's ...in their sights, meddling and conducive. :dis:
