Very informative and in depth interview on many of Ron Paul's stances. It's a really great interview that summarizes why so many people are being won over, though Glenn Beck gives fair and tough questions. On the east coast it is being repeated on the CNN Headline News channel in 10 minutes (09:00p EST).

I know I've been pushing Ron Paul pretty hard. I apologize to everyone who doesn't want to hear it. I'll do my best to limit new threads from this point on dealing with Ron Paul. I do think this is the quintessential Ron Paul interview.

I watched it last night and thought overall it was a great interview. Although when Beck went on his voyage of 9/11 conspiracies I was like WTF is he talking about..

rupaul didnt look so hot on meet the press. i didnt have a problem with much of what he said but russert made him look bad to most people. especially the lines like "well, yes i said that, but thats not on my platform"

i thought he was a fair tax guy but hes not.

Russert is pretty rough on most candidates (see Romney, Ghouliani, and I believe Huckabee is coming up). Paul does stumble with his words, which takes away from his total package. I believe, for the most part, Paul handled himself ok on Meet the Press, but I have the benefit of knowing where Paul is coming from. Russert was making a lot of references to his stances from his first presidential race, I believe that was close to 15-20 years ago, and Paul has refined a lot of his opinions since then. On more than one occasion, Russert misrepresented Paul's positions, which I don't necessarily have a problem with because it gives us the opportunity to see how Paul responds to adversity.

Paul isn't really a fair tax person because he believes in no income tax, ultimately; at least on the federal level. He may not be able to jump directly to no income tax, but that will always be his ultimate goal. Paul believes, and many agree, that income tax is unconstitutional. He makes reference to a film called From Freedom to Fascism. I only watched the first few minutes, but it seemed pretty interesting. It talked about the unconstitutionality of income tax.

Paul is not as polished as Romney, but I trust Paul a million times over most of the other candidates. Sometimes he stumbles when talking, but I believe he stands on some pretty strong foundations.

ive still yet to decide, although i have excluded several.

i like paul's integrity, but im unsure of the minimalist government philosophy.

i want to decrease govt to save the country (i truly believe paul in this aspect). yet, it would be criminal to return to the govt of 1820. i guess you can say paul would expect local/state govt to pick up the slack but then you end up with two dramatically different americas---the ones that are nice to live in (where voters are willing to pay some taxes) and the ones that would let the bottom third of the population rot.

i may vote for paul because there is no way he would get what he wants, perhaps the country would meet him about a quarter of the way

Yeah, Paul isn't going to be able to get everything he wants, but as president he can get a lot of people to consider what he is saying and he can at least move us in that direction, I believe the right direction.

Interesting that the Ron Paul site isn't posting the Russert interview...perhaps they're ashamed of their man? Good article below on this charade:

That pretty much sums up what turned me off of Ron Paul after I looked at his platform and record. He is a hypocrite politician with a good message and no plan.

LOL, this is another in a long line of biased articles. Of course Paul is going to be unpopular, media outlet after media outlet is basically running propaganda against the guy. And then when people hear Paul talk, their first impression may be, "Fox & Friends were right, this guy is a kook" because he is saying unconventional things. They don't take the time to research Paul because of their first impression and the beating he takes from the likes of Hannity, O'Really, Rush, and the rest of the neocon propagandists. Glenn Beck is also trash talking, but he was saying how he'd like to french kiss Paul during the interview.

On Meet the Press, Paul, I believe, fared at least as well as Ghouliani, and it isn't like Romney didn't take his lumps as well. Russert regularly misrepresented Paul's position and referenced Paul's positions 20 years ago during his first run for president. Additionally, Russert used articles that attributed things to Paul in a very slanted way. I'll probably respond later to the entirety of the article you referenced, but I am really embarrassed at the media's treatment of Paul. Again, I'm not sure if you've seen Meet the Press before, but Russert usually drills into the guy he is interviewing pretty hard.

It wasn't nearly as bad as you seem to make it out and it won't be the first interview Paul's website doesn't refer to. It wasn't his best interview ever, simple as that.

It would be hilarious to watch Fox News backtrack if Ron Paul won the nomination. Or perhaps they'd back a democrat. Fox News would hate the Republicans of yesteryear.
