It's like the "hahahahaha" song being punctuated by cries of
"a**hole, a**hole". We never did that when I was a student.
It seems that the bar has been lowered vis-a-vis class and
    sportsmanship.

From what I saw, LSU fans were just being LSU fans- i.e. rowdy but generally harmless. If I had to guess, we're just seeing the effects of culture shock.

my wife's aunt and uncle, who are OU fans, went to the game. they said it was nothing out of the ordinary for them compared to other games against other teams. They heard a lot of Tiger Bait chants, and said there was the occasional "bad apple" LSU fan who had a bad mouth, but they said all in all most everyone was on very good behavior.

I went to OUBoards.com and they have a thread a LSU fan started asking about how the fans were. Their responses were pretty tame except one dude who said his friend got hit on the head with a crowbar (former OU player), and somebody broke into Stoop's hotel room and only stole his laptop. I doubt either of these things happened, just a sore loser trying to make a big deal out of something because his team lost.

I have not heard the new Tiger Bait chant Tigerwins is speaing of, bt if so that is terrible. Being the parent of a 3 year old, I would be very mad if ANY fan was cursing as such around my child.

The stolen laptop was true. However, it was Mrs. Stoops' laptop, and IMO, her bad for leaving it out in the hotel room. For gawd sakes, put your crap away. Did you leave your jewelry out on the dresser too? Have you stayed in a hotel before? The service people working in hotels who make the beds and clean the toilets are not exactly white collar workers now are they?

I flew in from Arizona with one of my best freinds, who just so happens to be an Oklahoma Grad. and a huge fan. His seat was not by mine (I had seven tickets) but was in the middle of the LSU fans and he wore all of his OU gear. After the weekend he said he was so glad that if he had to lose the Champ. it was to LSU because we had the nicest and greatest fans. He said he got nothing but pats on the back after the game and freindly joking during the game. He did say there was one ass that was yelling at him after the game, but that our fans quickly policed it ourselves and told the guy to show some class. He is now and forever will be a "closet tiger fan". It was a freaking great weekend and a great game and both sides showed alot of class in my opinion. I had to fly back to AZ on Monday, did not get home till midnight, (with my wife and three kids, and my 2 year old son crying most of the flight) but I never regreted the trip and I had the greatest time of my life. GEAUX TIGERS!!

Who really cares what other people think? I am getting tired of visitors complaining about coming to Tiger Stadium and saying they will never come back. GOOD!!!! More tickets for us tiger fans. Let's face it, most of them are just jealous and embarassed by there teams performance and are just trying to deflect it to US tiger fans. I am one tiger fan that thinks our fabled tradition of an intimidating crowd should not change just to satisfy the PC people. We are who we are and if they don't like it, then don't come. We will still sell out Tiger Stadium without those cry babies.

I did my fair share of yelling "Tiger Bait" from my limo upon arriving in the Quarter - no drinking involved. Everyone I yelled at laughed and a few said "Gator Bait" or "Kitty litter" back - we all laughed. When the game was over, my husband and I did admionish some LSU fans who were getting on the OU fans, telling the LSU student age types to grow up. My husband went out of his way to tell every OU fan he saw in the Quarter after the game _good game. I thought in general, the OU fans were nice, compared to the Kans ASS fans we dealt with in the Quarter during the Final Four.

The funniest occurrence was after the game, we were walking on Bourbon and we witnessed a OU fan taunting a little girl in LSU regalia with "Tiger Bait"! Obviously, they don't get it!

Did you notice that every team except Florida complained about their treatment by fans????? Must have something to do getting your a$$ beat by the Tigers!!!! When your team wins everything is peaches and cream but when you lose the whole world is the pits. There are some fans out there that need to learn how to lose with dignity.

    Sorry - this is long.

It is getting this bad! I live in Florida now (3 years), but am from BR and have been going to LSU games for over 30 years. Just this year, I brought a group of friends (Auburn fans) to the Auburn/LSU game. I brought them with me because they said the last time they went to a game in BR they were treated terribly. I told them I'd show them the best time they'd ever have at a college game. I was wrong. It wasn't just regular Tiger Bait chants, but I witnessed worse. For example, some stupid little drunk coed "went off" on a wife of my friend...for no reason. This little girl (probably 19) was hanging around our regular tailgate area (Lockett), but we didn't know her. I told her boyfriend to control her...thankfully he did.

Another instance, after the SEC Champ. game as we were leaving the Ga. Dome we saw some kid (probably 19 or twenty) start cursing at a women in UGA gear as he walked by. The lady yelled back at him something to the effect of "hey son, watch your mouth my kids are standing here". Which was true. The guy was walking and just went nuts (unprovoked). I again stepped in and told the guy quietly, but with the same language to shut his mouth, show some respect or I'd shut it for him. This was at the entrance to CNN center. These are just a two examples, but there are hundreds.

Now, I was in N.O. from Friday night until Monday morning. I went to the game. I walked the quarter each day. I went into the bars, (damn 3 for 1's my head still hurts), I went into the restaurants. Fortunately, I didn't see anything out of the ordinary...well ordinary for Bourbon Street. I did have dinner at Dickie Brennans on Saturday night at around 8pm and had to listen to a dozen chants of Boomer-Sooner by other patrons, but it was expected. I overheard countless compliments from Sooner and Tiger fans about one another, which was pleasing to my ear. But I'm sure things happened.

It's getting bad and getting bad at most schools. I've been to road games and have been harrassed. I'm also in a business that houses visiting fans (read hotel business) that come to BR for games and I see and hear all kinds of things. But in the last 6 years or so, it's gotten worse from all fans of all schools.

You should care what people think. It's a reflection of your school, community and culture. It's about respect and class. Yea, root, chant, scream all you want, but don't make it personal or classless. People should expect "Tiger Bait" or Boomer Sooner or Roll Tide or War Eagle or whatever. If they are bothered by stuff like that, then stay home. But it's the other garbage that needs to stop. I'm not saying don't put your game face on, that would be hypochritcal. My icechest is full and iced down early.

I live and die by what LSU does on the field even though I've been out of school for 18 years. I take pride in what LSU has accomplished on the field. I take pride in how Nick Saban represents himself and the university that I attended. I take pride in the character his team has showed this year. Do you think you had more to trash talk about than Maulk or Clayton or Vincent or Spears? You don't hear stories about them running their mouth. Can't we, the fan base, now do the same...play hard, but show respect.

Not every fan base is doing that....lets be the leaders there too!
