Grass or Turf? I thought it went back to grass in like 94 or something, but i keep seeing posts on other boards saying it has turf now. Which is the right answer?
Went back to grass in 1995 according to http://www.hogwired.com/tablestory.asp?Home_ID=2&Story_ID=232
They just put that new "FieldTurf" in this summer. Picture below isn't with the turf I don't think, just what the stadium will look like Friday.
god I hope its not that fake grass.... they play on that stuff in almost all of the NFL stadiums that don't have natural grass or turf.....its like a fake grass/astro turf.....still have to wear spikes to play in it though...I remember when the saints had to play the lions on it.....Coach haslett said it was the worst playing surface that he ever coached/played on....that it was like playing on slick tires
Re: god I hope its not that fake grass.... Oh wonderful. Couldn't be any worse than Tiger Stadium was last Saturday, right? Speaking of horrible surfaces, The Coliseum in Nashville (where the Tennessee Titans play) looks dreadful. The Vols had to play on it last weekend. There was a lot of complaining about the surface by the fans up here last week on the sports talk shows. Hopefully, the surface will lend itself well to our RBs and WRs. I am praying that Randall will have a breakout game and we can surprise the Hogs.
Its a cross between Kentucky bluegrass, feather bent, and California sensimellia. Its a little harsh.. WPFS
Re: WMS I've never understood why colleges play at two stadiums. It just seems that it would form a stronger and deeper tradition if they only have one "home". Long Live Tiger Stadium!!!
