    4 yards.

That's all it came down to ...... 4 yards from a victory ....... and Auburn fans everywhere know how close it was to being a loss for Auburn. This was as "old-school" of a game as they come nowadays, a true physical fistfight between two warrior teams.

I posted last week that I believed LSU could beat any team in the country with the exception of maybe OSU and I now believe it more than ever. You have a superb team, program, and supportive fanbase that you should take great pride in ....... what a great game for both teams.

Just a few random thoughts from the game:

AU coaches, players, and fans were chattering after the game about how LSU has become Auburn's second rival. Given the storied tradition of AU's rivalry with both Alabama and Georgia, I think that's a newfound sign of respect for the program that LSU has built. Very hard-earned respect, but respect nonetheless, and definitely headed in the right direction. You won over a lot of mainstream AU fans with this performance.

The Tailgate was jammin'. With rare exception, all of the LSU fans I saw were having a great tailgate and I didn't see any incidences between opposing fans.... just a lot of good-natured ribbing. Even after the game, their was good-natured banter (among those fans that had any voice remaining) and a lot of mutual respect - it was a great game for those that love good college football.

The refs. Not their best effort, as I'm certain Rogers Redding will make abundantly clear to the crew today. Nevertheless, and JMO, but the calls were controversial but likely wouldn't have changed the eventual outcome of the game. The officials were letting two very physical teams go at it, and America got to see how the game is supposed to be played - real football. These two teams could've played for 4 more quarters and the score likely would've still been within 3 points in either direction, if it changed at all. LSU could've just as easily won this game, and I would defy any AU fans to make a legitimate case otherwise.

Anyway, I hope the team gets healthy against Tulane and MSU before laying the wood to the Gators. I know I should probably pull for the gators because it would be better for AU, but truthfully I never get tired of seeing the Gators get an azzwhoopin' from a conference opponent.

Anyway, I wish y'all good luck the rest of the season.

Always enjoy your posts here but the officiating played a HUGE part in the outcome. Two great teams leaving it all on the field with AU being pushed over the finish line by the refs. I'd hate losing to AU but could live with it but the officiating just kills me. Despite that our coaching staff could have put our offense in position to win the game but refused to adjust their gameplan. Great game by Auburn, no way you should lose a game this year.

A great game, worthy of such a great post by you! I'd say thanks for stopping by, but we knew you would.

It was a great game, and I'm glad to hear all the fans at the stadium enjoyed it (and there were no ugly incidents).

I don't see any way Aub loses 2 conf. games, so it should be off to Atlanta for you guys. Win the LSU Auburn game and that's what you win. Good luck, and whip some eastern conf. butt.

If you should drop 2, we'll be happy to represent the west.

Good luck to you guys, hope you get a shot at the brass ring this year. Pray for a USC loss, or the writers will screw you again.

thanks, houtiger. Auburn will try to "heal up" over the next few weeks. This game was so physical that even the eventual winner was going to be staggering at the end .... and Auburn will be staggering for the next several weeks.

Several key players were injured during the game. Powers did a decent job fillling in for Wilhite, but there will be a dropoff if we lose Wilhite for several games. Irons is banged up again, but he played with heart. We're damn lucky that we didn't lose Brandon Cox - that would've been a disaster. As it is, BC is was limping noticable an hour after the game. I'm told there's an MRI scheduled today, but they are not expecting anything serious.

    Caddy,
You have been always a great poster, once our bitterness dies, which it will in about 24 hours, we will all look back and say WOW, that my friend is the SEC. Actually more accurate that is LSU vs Auburn. Sure Bama is your rival but thats more personal, the LSU vs AUBURN game is all about the season, everyone knows it, I wish this game was later in the season. that would even add more drama (Like in 2002)
As for me I am dissapointed the refs played a major role in the outcome, but regardless AU is one hell of a team, as is LSU, what a game.
Seems to be a "Home team wins" series lately.

If Cox goes down Auburn is in serious trouble. I'll trade you a fine, experienced backup quarterback for that punter!

I agree with the rest of your post but this, this just sounds like banter from a AU fan that is trying to justify a win in their mind. The fact is the calls had a HUGE impact on the outcome of the game. Give us the PI call in the endzone at the end of the 2nd quarter, or give us the PI call on the 1 with 2 minutes left in the game and that could have DRASTICALLY changed the outcome. You yourself said "Auburn was 1 play away from losing." So if that's the case how could refs that took away more than 1 play from LSU not effect the outcome?

Sorry, but that's the truth. It was such a close game one play could change it- but the refs took at least 2 major plays from LSU- we're not counting the things I think were personal fouls on Auburn.

Nice to see a good post from you, but I'm bitter and I will be until those retards at the SEC Officiating Comittee at least admit they screwed up.

    Cadillac,

I had the pleasure of being Auburn this weekend. Thanks to all the Auburn fans for the great hospitality.
