BR Business Report is running a poll as to wether Saban should be given a raise. http://www.businessreport.com/ Look at what he has done in 4 years - think about what can happen in the next four. Most people dont understand that the athletic program is self supporting and does not take funds from the academic side. Saban is worth whatever it takes to keep him. Please take a moment and vote so the poll results look good.
If I remember correctly, one provision of the last contract was, if he won a National Championship, he automatically got a raise to a dollar more than the currently-hightest paid coach. That'd be Bob Stoops, of course, at 2 mil a year.
This contract is not a polling issue! Any person with the least amount of brains understands that an entity like LSU is only as good as the leadership that steers the ship. I've read some assinine posts that LSU is bigger than Saban, but the truth is that LSU with poor leadership is what we have had for the 10 yrs. before Saban got here. Yes LSU always has the potential to be a power, but without great leadership, we historically underachieve. Saban is a great, not good, but GREAT leader and ANY amount of money that it took to retain him would be a GREAT investment in this university and all who value winning football. I would rather that this not even be a polling question as the general population who make an average salary probably wouldn't appreciate what his worth is to LSU and the state of LA. I would say he has been worth $100 million or more in terms of positive press and actual monies generated that LSU has gotten this year, and probably another $50 million next year already before we even play a game. If you ask me, he would be a steal @ $2 million a year.
Skip should not wait until the outcome of the SECCG, that contract should already be in Nicks hands. There should be a big buy out as well. LSU needs to protect it's interest too!
Update With 666 total votes so far YES = 53% NO = 47% LSU fans know Nick's value. I think sometimes we (fans) don't realize how little value some folks put on LSU. Remember the outcry when they gave Emmeret a raise?
Shameless plug -- but while you're looking at the Buisness Report, you might want to check out the article I'm in -- LOL (god did that sound vain). http://www.businessreport.com/pub/22_6/education/3925-1.html
