Yes, but obviously not at the forefront. The VaTech fans I've spoken to are relaying that half the fans are ready to join the SEC to remain relavent and the other half want to stay to not have to compete year in and year out in the SEC.
They are unlikely to join the SEC, due to the ACC expansion and new deals the ACC commisioner is giving out. I believe they could still be courted however with some common sense.
Virginia Tech has a huge 20 million dollar buyout if it leaves the ACC. That, with ACC expansion, will keep the thing together. ACC teams are out of considerantion.
The SEC paid each school in the conference $219 million dollars last year. The 20 million buyout is NOT the problem. The money is just plain better at the SEC. The issue comes in in that right now the ACC is pretty stable with the expansion, and allows VTech / FSU to stay at the top of the conference. VTech jumps ship and they're suddenly at the middle of the pack.
