    2005 LSU Football Seniors

25 Seniors on the 2005 Team

17 Potential Senior Starters on the 2005 Team

    Offensive Senior Starters
    1. 10 Joseph Addai RB 6-0 210 Sr. Houston
    2. 44 Kevin Steltz FB 5-9 244 Sr. New Orleans
    3. 82 David Jones TE 6-4 260 Sr. Silver Springs, Md.
    4. 5 Skyler Green WR 5-9 195 Sr. Westwego
    5. 76 Andrew Whitworth LT 6-7 325 Sr. West Monroe
    6. 71 Nate Livings OG 6-5 295 Sr. Lake Charles
    7. 64 Rudy Niswanger C 6-5 293 Sr. Monroe
    8. 68 Terrell McGill OG 6-4 325 Sr. Miami
Junior wide receiver, junior right tackle, sophomore quarterback

    Defensive Senior Starters
    1. 90 Melvin Oliver DE 6-3 274 Sr. Opelika, Ala.
    2. 95 Kyle Williams DT 6-2 295 Sr. Ruston
    3. 97 Brandon Washington DT 6-4 305 Sr. Tuscaloosa, Ala.
    4. 98 Claude Wroten DE 6-3 293 Sr. Bastrop
    5. 46 Cameron Vaughn WLB 6-4 237 Sr. Terrytown
    6. 51 E.J. Kuale MLB 6-2 225 Sr. Daytona Beach, Fla.
    7. 56 Kenneth Hollis SLB 6-0 235 Sr. Adamsville, Ala.
    8. 8 Ronnie Prude CB 5-11 182 Sr. 2L Shreveport
    9. 6 Mario Stevenson CB 6-2 193 Sr. Memphis
    Two junior safeties

    Other Seniors
    1. 2 Shyrone Carey RB 5-6 203 Sr. New Orleans
    2. 83 Kory Hebert TE 6-5 254 Sr. Lafayette
    3. 42 Phillip Maxwell LB 6-1 217 Sr. Shreveport
    4. 17 Bennie Brazell WR 6-1 166 Sr. Houston
    5. 33 Jason Spadoni RB 6-0 218 Sr. Kenner
    6. 38 Gino Giambelluca WR 5-9 169 Sr. Chalmette
    7. 42 Andre Gill WR 6-1 210 Sr. Beverly Hills, Calif.
    8. 87 Schirra Fields WR 5-9 177 Sr. Haynesville, La.

    I know:
    1. Addai may be a co-starter with Broussard.
    2. Hester may start over Steltz.
    3. Niswanger may go to medical school.
    4. McGill may not be a starter.
    5. Washington may not start, but Saban has a tendency to begin the year with senior starters and let younger players (Dorsey) beat them out for the job.
    6. Wroten may not move to end, but he has good pass rush and the size that Saban like in ends.
    7. Kuale may not start.
    8. Prude or Stevenson may not start.

What we need from this recruiting class for next year:
I think we need to try to get a reliable field goal kicker and a quarterback that can potentially compete with Russell and Flynn. Russell, Flynn, or Reever may be fine, but you don’t want to go without a passing game (like we did this year) and have that cost us a potential national championship. Likewise for Jackson at field goal kicker

    Junior Offense
    1. 22 Alley Broussard RB 6-0 233 Lafayette

    4. 25 Justin Vincent RB 5-10 213 Lake Charles
    5. 3 Craig Davis WR 6-2 195 New Orleans
    6. 89 Keith Zinger TE 6-4 247 Leesville, La.
    7. OT Kevin Myers
    8. 77 Peter Dyakowski OT 6-4 294 Vancouver, British Columbia
    9. 59 Doug Planchard C 6-3 291 Baton Rouge
    10. 78 Paris Hodges OT 6-5 316 Vacaville, Calif.

    2. 31 Jessie Daniels SS 5-11 200 Breaux Bridge

Not unless Saban can get him a medical redshirt year this year...

Stevenson will be extremely valuable to Saban's defense in the next year, and possibly two. I wouldn't doubt that they seek a medical RS for this guy, since he was hurt very early on. With some of the younger DBs getting some PT this year, it would surprise me if Stevenson plays anymore this year, short of a Travis Daniels-type emergency.

That was the plan when he got hurt. He is only listed on the LSU web site as having played against ASU in the second game of the season so should be able to receive a redshirt.

Prude being granted another year was also nice.

17 of 22 potential starters seniors.

Seven home games (and easy-ish road games against the likes of Vandy, Ole Miss and Miss St.), which is pretty good since LSU has won approximately 90% of it's home games under Nick Saban.

No, there are no guarantees of a top 2 start to the season (unless you're USC, of course) or a #1 finish, but 2005 looks a helluva lot more promising right now in 2004 than 2003 did after the 2002 season (still with me?)
