All of my friends and family that were serving in Iraq are finally back home! I've been very, very stressed out about it for the past year that they've been gone. With all the danger over there, I didn't like the odds of knowing 3 people over there and all of them coming back unscathed. One of them, a platoon commander, is pretty bad off mentally. He can't even really be around anyone except for his wife right now. He's apparently not functioning well at all. I have no idea when I'll actually get to see him. He's pretty scarred and will have to undergo psychiatric therapy. I hope he'll be Ok eventually. But he had a lot of kills and witnessed even more, so I can't even begin to imagine what he's going through. Anyhow, just letting everyone know. Despite my feeling towards the war, I have never been prouder of anyone than I am of these 3 men. God Bless America! :usaflagwa
I'm glad your buddies made it home safe and sound! I'm sorry to hear one of them is having such a hard time, but given what he's been through, I can't say anyone would be any better off. Just give him some time and let him readjust to life back in the States, and obviously, be as supportive as possible. I hope he does get help, though. I've heard too many stories of those not getting help and it severely affecting their personal lives and those close to him.
Yeah, and he was already a little 'thrown off', if you will. Anger problems, cynical, etc...a lot like me lol.
I know the feeling. My two nephews in the Guard are back home in Louisiana safe and sound. I have two other nephews still in the military, though. Let's hope the American people end this asinine cluster**** waste of lives and resources before they're shipped out.
