In 2004, Auburn got a phantom call to beat LSU then the Football gods punish them by keeping them out of the Orange Bowl. Fast Forward to 2006. If Ohio State, Auburn and USC all go undefeated, Ohio State and USC will get the Championship game over Auburn. Karma is a #$@%!!
Other than the fact that most LSU fans hate Auburn, why should we be mad at them? They played a good, clean game. It wasn't them that made the calls, or decided it was 1975 and we HAD to try to run the ball even after it was obvious they couldn't stop our passing game and we couldn't gain an inch running the football. I do not wish any ill will towards them. If they go undefeated, Hell yes I will be pissed if they get shut out of the chapionship game again. They ARE an SEC team, and I would rather watch a team from our conference that needed a hole lotta help to beat us playing for the championship than a buch of fags from USC.
True on the call, but no matter what you say AU got screwed, ANY team that goes undefeated in the SEC needs to play in the NC game, and if AU goes undefeated again (Well it wont matter this year because they will be #2 and should be) they better be in the game, and frankly if they do they will win it. Fact is aside from USC - Pac 10 blows Big 12 - Weak... Except for UT and maybe OU. Sec is hands down the best conference in college football. AU got screwed plain and simple that year.
It will be a repeat of 2004 because the a narrow victory against a good LSU teams does not offer the same bounce in the polls as a blowout of Nebraska. The only way an SEC team (LSU included) to get in the BCS NC Game is for one of the Media Darlings to lose and the SEC team be undefeated. I don't like it, but it is the truth.
I thought several close late hits, nothing blatent. So yeah, I think it was a clean hard hitting game.
ESPN College Footbal Final: Doug Flutie Top 5 Teams 1. Ohio State 2. USC 3. Auburn 4. West Virginia 5. Michigan Craig James 1. Ohio State 2. USC 3. West Virginia 4. Auburn (Dropped after a victory) 5. Florida
Interesting that someone has AU dropping after a win. I understand the "protest" aspect of the bad calls, etc., but our game was a bruiser of a game between two very good programs. I don't think I would drop them in the polls. Bad move.
Pretty much all of the heads from espn and abc crews said we stay in the top ten. I hope they are right.
