All I've heard on the radio and TV, etc, is that the BCS doesn't work because the #1 team "in both polls" is left out of the Sugar Bowl. Romey said more than once that "#2 is playing #3 for the right to be #1". That's a misrepresentation of the facts. The BCS consists of (correct me if I'm wrong here) NINE (9) polls of which USC is #1 in only 2 of them. The #1 and #2 teams are determined by utilizing all 9 polls. Being #1 in the human polls doesn't give them any more right to claim special status than LSU does by harping that we are #1 in NYT and Sagarin. It's the cumulative score that matters and UNDER THIS SYSTEM, the Trojans are odd man out. That's the way it is. Deal with it.
Yes I do. I definitely agree. The only reason they are No. 1 in the human polls anyway is preseason poll and when they lost. Not because of real thought on the AP's part.
If LSU, OU and USC all lost their one games to the teams they lost to on Saturday (Just for argument sakes) IE all three are undefeated until Saturday. Ranked OU 1, USC 2, LSU 3. SO lets say, OU then loses to #13 ranked K-State, LSU loses to top (I think 15th ranked) UF, and USC loses to an unranked 6-6 team called Cal. You still think USC is ranked #1 ??? No...... Thats what the BCS did, it takes emotion out of it.
Well I personally am glad we have the BCS and computer polls. The AP and Coaches poll are notoriously subjective, and they have very short memories. The human polls don't look at what you've done over the season, they look at who lost first. If you say, who accomplished the most over the season? Well, then you would have to say OU and LSU.
