According to Jax Paper Urban Meyer to UF

    http://jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/120304/col_meyer.shtml

Just passing this along, I would be shocked he took UF over ND, but maybe they offered a better package. We shall see.

If he does come to UF.

Welcome to the SEC there Meyer, you will realize quickly this aint the MAC, welcome to LSU, UGA.. insert SEC team here.
He is a great coach, I think UF will do well with him, however things have changed in the ole SEC. UF fans believe the Gaytors will dominate every year are foolish. Hopefully they wont run him as well after LSU continues to beat them, UGA and Auburn, Alabama comes back strong and Ole Spurrier gives a few L's from the GameCocks...

Well the SEC will continue to be the best conference in football from a coaching perspective. Think about it, Spurrier, Saban, Meyer, Richt, Phat Phil, and even Tubs... Pretty solid line up. The Big 12 has Stoops...

I just think Florida is a way better fit for Meyer than Notre Dame.

The pass happy days of Spurrier will be back and Gator fans will love it.

Notre Dame has a killer schedule thru 2009 that is destined to get his ass fired by then (and yes tougher than even Florida).

The SEC has had top notch athletes for quite a while, but I think only recently has the SEC really started upping the ante on coaches. SEC has had its era's of one great coach, Bear Bryant, Spurrier etc. But now a days its a whole different story. If there is any arguments about what conference is the toughest right now, there won't be in the near future. Saban & Tubberville (it hurts to say this) in the West. Richt, Phulmer, Spurrier and I'm sure Florida will get somebody good but I don't think it will be Meyer in the East. Even if Florida offers the better package, I think he'll take ND - the prestige, his history with them and the possibilities.

I heard Meyer has an out in his contract for ND and a couple of other schools. But, I didn't think Folrida was one of them. That doesn't mean he couldn't or wouldn't dishonor the contract and bolt. But does anyone know what the ramifications are? Big buyout? Would Florida have to compensate Utah?

If Meyer is truly gone to UF, I'd think the ND speculation would next center on Kirk Ferentz.

I doubt seriously if there is a buyout of any magnitude. These mid-majors know that they'll really struggle to attract excellent, up and coming young head coaches if they put a big buyout clause into the contract.

I mean, if Urban Meyer talks to Utah while at Bowling Green and the Utes say, "Only if you agree to a big buyout clause", then Meyer chooses one of the dozens of other mid-major programs where he can make his mark, not have to deal with a buyout clause and move on to a major program.

ESPn reported a while back he can get out of his contract for ND, Penn State and I think Ohio State.

My bad: Meyer received a contract extension last summer that included a clause allowing him to leave Utah without penalty if he is hired as head coach at Michigan, Ohio State or Notre Dame.

Still, the buyout can't be all that much since, well, he's not getting paid all that much to begin with. Who'd agree to a six-figure salary and a seven-figure buyout?

Dan Patrick on his radio show just reported UF offered Meyer 2 million a year. Of course UF and Meyer are dening the offer. Does Utah have the funds to match?

ESPN is reporting UF President is just waiting on the email acceptance. Saying it is going to come any minute.
