This game was about respect. TJ is hands down SEC coach of the year and should be mentioned for National Coach of the year. This team seemingly lost it's composure but some way, some how they come back to get this one. As Tim Brando said, "This might be the most disrepected conference leader he has ever seen and I've been following the SEC 30 years!" No more baby, no more.
We are past merely mentioning him for national coach of the year. He will be a finalist and probably win it at this rate.
The only OOC game LSU got "smoked" in was Utah, and that was almost 2 full months ago. Add that to the lack of TV coverage to this point and the disdain the national media has for the SEC this season, and the only way you're gonna get respect without OOC cred and without playing in a flashy major conference or a trendy mid-major is a long win streak. Problem is before the UF game our fans may have been the only people who really knew how good the team was. It wasn't that long ago that reporters were talking about putting freakin Siena in the tourny instead of LSU.
Arkansas, which is... --#9 all-time in the NCAA with 6 Final Four appearances, --#10 all-time in the NCAA with 29 NCAA tournament appearances --tied #15 all-time in the NCAA when it comes to national championships --#2 in the SEC with 24 conference championships (including their SWC championships where they were #1 over the likes of Texas, etc) --#2 in the SEC with 29 NCAA tournament appearances all-time --#2 in the SEC with 22 NCAA tournament appearances since 1980 --#2 in the SEC with 14 NCAA tournament appearances since 1990 -- plays in the fifth-largest on-campus arena in the USA ...was undefeated against Top 25 teams at home this season, beating both #7 Texas and #4 Oklahoma. Yet, Top-25-ranked LSU went there and won in amazing fashion (and Arkansas has two great players in Michael Washington and Courtney Fortson).
That is funny. Siena ahead of a team that was on top of the SEC (a major conference) regardless of whether the SEC is down this year. This team has heart!
