Just a quick report from behind enemy lines. The Hogs coaching staff flogging outside the student union this morning was rich. It's going to take a while to clean up the shredded inflatable lighted hog yard ornaments from the area. This week should prove interesting. Pencil in the day after T'giving as a big W. Nutt didn't turn LSU down. LSU asked if he was interested, but refused to offer him the job without an interview. Knowing that he couldn't conceal his interest if he went for an interview, he decined to be interviewed. He couldn't afford to be seen as shopping for a job again. Petrino didn't turn LSU down either. He blew his interview and was not offered the job. His fans were not happy with his interest in LSU. In both cases, the coaches announced that they had "turned down LSU", but it was just to placate local fans and to conceal their interest in upgrading their jobs.
Actually Red, he parlayed his interest in LSU by having Arkansas agree to name him athletic director down the road. At least that is the story I remember. I know we did not offer, but the fact that he was on the radar was pretty scary at the time. Hail Miles :thumb:
to add to that, Nutt isn't that bad a game day coach, I think he lacks recruiting abilities or the means to do so.
I was being serious, if you go back and look at some of the games they've played agaisnt us, you'd see that. Every coach has bad calls and bad games. Watching him over the years, I've seen him come up with some mircale stuff with less talent than most. He's consistantly made bowl games with personell he shouldn't have. Don't get me wrong though I'm glad he ain't at LSU.... Talent is first, without it the best coaching won't get you anywhere.
