No, BP killed 11 people and in general messed up the Gulf. It was Obama who killed the economy by punishing the entire industry for BP's sins.
missions accomplished. how? by spending? how does that work? so spending is bad? what about those jobs making F-22s? is spending bad or good? seems like making F-22s requires lots of pretty decent jobs. of course, when obama spends insane amounts , it is good. the economy, like the climate and the human brain and a few other things, is too complex to really manage. the best policy is just to step aside. it goes up and down and the best you can do is minimize your impact. obama and bush both manipulated the economy way too much, and spent way too much. obama has not helped anything with all this absurd "stimulus" nonsense.

Look it up. Geez, I shouldn't have to hold your hand. Pay attention. Defense spending is to provide the best defense. Not to provide jobs in Georgia, not to enrich a defense contractor. When we have enough we stop building them. Else it is obvious waste. That's what third-world countries do because they can't do anything else. Great powers and above all superpowers have resources at their disposal to help ameliorate crises and manage economies. Not to do so constitutes incompetence and stupidity.
No, GM has little to do with defense spending in peacetime. But GM is is an important strategic asset to the US that would be a problem to lose. Our industrial capacity is a fraction of its WWII strength. Loss of GM would be a serious issue if wartime production was ever needed again. We have lost too many industries to overseas and that can be a problem for us. GM sells cars internationally and loss of that revenue would only make our trade imbalance worse.
