Has anyone heard about TT draft stock? Early on he was predicted to be a top 3 pick, if not the top pick. On espn.com they said that his draft stock has dropped and that if he is not picked by the #2 pick he could be in for a big-time slide. Did he have a bad combine that caused his draft stock to drop? I hope this isn't true.
The concensus is that if he doesn't get taken by Chicago at #2, he may slide all the way to #8, which I think is Minnesota. However, there is also talk of Chicago trading that 2nd pick. If the Bulls do keep the pick, it will be between Tyrus and Washington's Brandon Roy. I have noticed that Tyrus has left early or canceled almost every workout because of injury or illness. This can't be helping.
Wow! That is terrible news! I hope everything goes okay for the guy, but you have to be a little more prudent than that.
Let's see now... I really wish TT the best, but we have a perfect storm brewing: 1) Young guy, getting advice from agents/friends/family/hangers-on. TT has been hyped to the max. If he goes 8th, hell, it's a HUGE bummer for him. 2) Great in the tourney & some regular season games for ONE season, but essentially unproven in the long haul. 3) A propensity for injuries at a young age. 4) Seemingly not wanting to please or follow the tryout schedules. Man, I like TT, but the pressure that is put on these VERY young guys by the agents and system is what I HATE about the early entry of ALL athletes into the pro system. I know that he had to do what he had to do, but this is painful. :dis:
I decided to look for myself. He had a stomache flu and had to re-schedule his workout with the Bulls. It was re-scheduled for the same date that his tryout with Portland was on. Of course, the tryout with Portland was just cancelled. Here is a quote from oregonlive.com: "Meanwhile, Tyrus Thomas of LSU pulled out of his solo workout for the Blazers that had been scheduled for Tuesday. Art Sasse, Blazers vice president of communication, said Thomas’ agent informed the Blazers that a team with a higher pick had promised it would select Thomas. Speculation is that Chicago is the team that has targeted Thomas." That quote has been disputed on DraftExpress.com though, saying he has no promise to be picked by any team in particular. Since then, he has cancelled his tryout with the Raptors. Looks like he is Bulls bound. Most of my info was from here: Bulls Forum
last night andy katz had tt going 6th. as long as he's in the first half of the first round he'll be fine.
At least we don't have long to wait now. It will be interesting to see where a guy like Morrison ends up... and where that drunken player from Duke ends up.
Along with the stomach flu, I believe he's also canceled for a sore hamstring or some other minor injury. He's not the only on though. Several of the expected top draftees have been pulling out of workouts. I have a feeling it's more of a strategic ploy than real injuries. As for the Bulls, a week and a half ago it looked like he was a lock for Chicago. As of a few days ago, the Bulls reportedly had Brandon Roy rated even with Thomas. We'll see, but my guess is that they will trade the pick and someone else will take Roy. Thomas could very well drop out of the top 5.
