I say just give Mack Brown another extension and be done with it.

AUSTIN (AP) - A Texas senator wants to ban the state's college football teams from playing in any post-season championship games that are not part of a playoff system.

The bill by Sen. Jeff Wentworth, R-San Antonio, is similar to a bill filed in the House last month by Rep. Rep. Corbin Van Arsdale, R-Tomball.
Both bills would expire Dec. 2, just before Bowl Championship Series bids go out, if a similar law is not enacted in at least four other states.

Both are mostly symbolic measures born out of the frustration with the BCS system, in which a poll of college football coaches and computer rankings help determine which teams will play in the major bowl games.

The Associated Press has instructed the BCS to stop using the AP Top 25 rankings by sportswriters and broadcasters as part of the selection formula.

Just for the record, it's "prima donnas". And I agree, while the BCS sucks, it isn't some state legislature's place to try to regulate it or the state's schools participation in it. Politicians never cease to amaze me.

If politicians manage to get a playoff system in place through legislation I'll be happy. (This is one of the few instances where I support big government)

They will write it so screwed up and no one but them will be able to change it. Not a good thing. I can't see any way they should be involved in this.

Also what's the problem Texas went to the Rose Bowl last year

Don't our elected officials have something better to do, like maybe finding Osama?

Next thing you know, the Texas legislature will ban Perrilloux from visiting the state haha

Whatever it is, how is cleaning up athletics going to make our country a lot better?
