Twas a time for Tide to dream of St. Nick

    Tuesday, December 26, 2006
    Huntsville Times

'Twas the day after Christmas, when all through Mal's place

Not a new coach was stirring, not even a trace

The money is there by the bushels and tons

In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would come run

The fans were all restless, so snubbed by Coach Rich

After visors of Spurrier had first caused an itch

And Mal Moore in his office and off on a jet

Had kept fingers crossed, it might be Saban yet

When out in the papers St. Nick caused a clatter

He said "Thanks for the offer, but still no matter"

Again he'd decided to keep coaching the Fish

To stay in pro football, against Mal's great wish

The job as the coach of the ol' Crimson Tide

Still remains vacant, with a bruising of pride

When, after your bloodshot eyes did appear,

What a miserable year, with six wins, oh my dear

With a handsome ex-QB, so loyal and bright

The Tide went downhill, it seemed overnight

As rapid as vict'ries the losses they came

And fans hooted and shouted, and besmirched his name

First the Hawgs, then Gators, then the Vols and Miss State

One Tigers, more Tigers, a thumb-loss you hate

To the top of the league, to the top of the polls

Now fire a coach, fire a coach, to reach the big goal

As the days pass before to Shreveport you fly

Mal meets more new obstacles, can't hire the guy

So up to the house-top, the boosters pile dough

With a sleigh full of cash, to St. Nicholas it'd go

And then, in a twinkling, you heard him say no

With questions and answers he denied just so

As you start to thinking, and hear on the Net

This Tuscaloosa mess may be the worst of them yet

Once was Ray Perkins, a Crimson Tide great

Bill Curry all tarnished; a man not from this state

Gene Stallings, he brought a little Bear back

And he won with ol' Bama, success at no lack

He left - how they suffered, how Bama would stumble

He left to Mike DuBose, a program to crumble.

Coach Fran landed next to pick up Mike's mess

But the woes of probation left them with less

Mal could have re-signed Coach Fran to a deal

Instead some rich Aggies came up with a steal

He had a broad face and a round little belly,

Did Price, who came next and it all turned so hell-y

She was chubby and plump, a young stripper on stage

And Coach Price when he saw her, didn't act his age

A blurb on the Net, then wild news growing large

Soon Mike Price was gone; you had no one in charge

New Mike gave his word, then went straight to his work,

And built up the program, that U-turned with a jerk

Then giving the verdict as urged by the crowd

Alabama fired Shula, a moment not proud

This post-Christmas day, for a team with no rudder,

They may hire this coach, or this, or another

Mal Moore might exclaim, would he choose to thus sing,

"Your new coach we'll get, and he'll be here by spring!"

Funny post, but you've got way too much time on your hands.

[JackSparrow] You need to find yourself a girl, mate [/JackSparrow]
