Since I don't have a car anymore I've been taking the Canal street street bus at least four times a week round trip to and from work.

Every day I bear first hand witness to the progress both on carrollton and Canal streets.

    An update:
The tracks on canal and carrollton are almost completely laid now. All that remains is about a half block on the 600&700 blocks of N. Carrollton. I have no idea why these weren't laid with the track on both its sides.

The middle lane on the uptown bound side of Carrollton (two over from the neutral ground, next to the uptown-bound tracks)has been torn up and and a new layer of concrete has been laid, which is just inches from the crest of the concrete in which rests the street car tracks, and the remaining old asphault.

The top layer of asphault of Canal street below Carrollton has been completely torn up, I assume for repaving in the coming weeks. The Street car on this portion of Canal street has been finishedsince spring, and the new street lights are fuctioning and bright!

There is still significent construction underway on Canal street sidewalks and neutral grounds between Jeff davis and Carrollton, not sure what that is all about.

The new lamps are functioning from Claiborne to Broad, and the street cars have been up and down canal street for about two weeks.

    Thanks for the update

How is life without a car? Doable in New Orleans, I would think.
