I know nobody really cares what happens at Auburn, but I talked to a major booster that said the following: 1. Many of the money donors he says are saying to find other sources of money if they fire Tubberville. So far Lowder is still in Tubb's camp. The main problem is with Jimmy Raines trying to get rid of him in which he supposively has put up the money to buy out the 4 million it will take to fire Tubbs. 2. He said the admin has completely screwed this situation up in that a decision to get rid of Tubberville was made prior to the Alabama game. Now that he won, many want him to stay which is putting on alot of pressure to keep him. 3. He also said that if there is a change, the big money is wanting Jimbo Fisher and there was rumor that a group was in Baton Rouge today talking to him. That rumor was replaced with this person saying that they were actually in Louisville talking to Petrino. This booster said that if they hire Petrino, it will be the last of the $200,000 a year that he will ever send. Thought I would keep the forum informed bout the barners.
You know, I can understand love of alma mater, and all that good stuff, and I can understand donating money. But anybody who gives $200,000 per year to their university has got more dollars than sense, IMHO. This person needs to take some of that cash and buy a life.
Its all relative brother, sort of like me sweating over a 5 dollar putt when Micheal Jordan is betting 10,000 a hole.... As far as Tuberville, as much as we dont like the guy if his health is an issue, I wish him the best. However if they do fire him, he will laugh last since he is set for life. Sort of like we did Dinardo... I think is buyout is 2.8 million or something. So he will be paid no matter what. And if he is getting treated this way by the powers at Auburn he may say "Screw You" anyway.... Shame, I was kind of hoping he stays. It would be good for us if he did to be honest.
Money for school I would love to be able to give $200,000 to LSU. And it would not depend on who was the Football coach, but rather who was the Chancellor, since he is the person who can do the most to make the school better. I would want that money to go to making LSU grads the best engineers, historians and tuba players possible. I have 2 brothers who went to Auburn. Neither like Tuberville a whole lot, and they are strangely quite this year. GEAUX TIGERS
Re: Money for school Oh, I would, too. And if I had Bill Gates' jack, I would...for exactly the reasons you mentioned. But I'm sure we're not talking about anybody with that kind of scratch. And I think what I meant to say was that if this guy is holding the school hostage for that kind of money over their choice of a coach, then his priorities are all out of whack. He's not donating to his school for the right reasons.
Finebalm has reported today that people in Tubbs camp say that Tubbs and his staff are reportedly to be fired today. He said the meddling Trustees and one Pat Dye will get their wish and fire Tubbs. Number one on the list is Petrino from Louisville and he said that first on Petrino's things to do would be to get a psychiatric test on why he should go to this university run by these idiots.
Rumors, rumors and speculation. It's amazing how much attention these get when no one posting on an internet board has a clue what the truth is.
jeffinbama.....your such a jackass!!!!!!!!! Tub's is not going anywhere.......yes he will fire his o.c. and get a new one but he will be the coach @ auburn next year. If I had a nickel for all these bull%$!* rumors I've heard I would be able to donate 200k a year to all sec teams!! you bammers....keep em coming!!
However in the past when these rumors have started rolling about other coaches they have ended up true. Happened with Fran to A&M last year along with the Price and Destiny rumors. I hope the rumors are not true because as much as most LSU fans hate Tuberville I don't and I think he is a good caoach and I like LSU to face well coached teams.
