No joking, this dude is seriously sick and deluded: http://www.dailynews.com/Stories/0,1413,200~28541~1822386,00.html "Arbitrary" computers? The least-scientific, MOST "arbitrary" component of the BCS are the "human" polls. Dude has it backasswards. Everybody loves a winner, dude, so how can America love a post-Rose Bowl, 2-loss USC team enough to make them #1 in the final AP poll?
He's not saying a 2 loss USuCk team would be number 1. He is assuming SuCk will win. Just more media bias and pumping the court of public opinion.
I couldnt help it, I wrote the author of that column an email after reading that garbage. Here's what I wrote: " http://www.andersonsports.com/football/ACF_frnk.html I encourage you to read that article and explain to me why USC deserves to be ranked number one in the human polls. The only semi-logical reasoning I can think for USC to possibly be ranked above LSU or OU is because USC was the first of the three teams to lose. All in all, the three teams each have one loss and that one loss needs to evaluated against their victories. It is my opinion that the current situation indicates that the BCS is correct and reflects the obvious bias in the human polls. "
I wrote him an e-mail also... Told him to take off his rose colored glasses and watch the Sugar Bowl in case he was interested in a true national champion. I also said that his entire article was moot since Michigan was going to destroy USC. GO TIGERS!!!!
I sent him a reply and here is my letter: ......................................................................................................... Let me first start by saying I'm an LSU fan but my view wouldn't be any different if Georgia had won the SEC Championship game. I'm also against some conferences having championship games and others not, they should all have them or nothing. I'm for a playoff system. I use to be against the bcs, thinking that was wrong for college football but now I realize that its the humans that are whats wrong with college football. I scratched my head trying to figure out how USC could be ahead of LSU in the polls and here is my case. USC played 1 top 25 team and won. LSU played 2 top 5 teams and an undefeated top 25 team with a Heisman candidate and won all three. Last I saw the SEC was the strongest conference in college football. Some of the comments are from the voters of the polls are now coming out and I know that these voters are ignorant and heres why. A coach in California said, I don't get to see them play much, or something to that effect. So he voted USC#1 because he gets to see them all the time. If he was a responsible voter and coach he would at least know what happens in the top 25 via internet, radio, tv. An ESPN person said that he wrestled with USC and LSU and that Fla was a better team but USC was closer to perfect losing by missing a field goal in OT. The problem with this is its about the quality wins, Nevermind, to him those games meant nothing. Let me just say in closing that if this whole scenario doesn't prove we need a playoff system in college football I don't know what does. Thanks Allen
Gotta luv this CRAP. Theismann and other CFHOF inductee's spouting off about the same ole, same ole. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=1682688 "Theismann wasn't the only Hall of Famer miffed by the BCS controversy. Many of the inductees couldn't understand how the Trojans, the top team in both polls, were beaten out by Oklahoma and LSU for the BCS title game."
