Why does LSU paint the field every 5 yards? I have asked many people this question and no one seem to know the answer. I know they have been doing this for a long time and believe they are the only ones.
Why does a Tiger have stripes? I don't know? A lot of teams used to and they for the most part all switched to the 10 yd intervals... I guess LSU just didn't give in to the times
Not that it matters, but Kinnick Stadium at Iowa is painted light green then dark green every five yard interval. You raise a good question.... as I thought most stadiums were marked every 5 yards.... hmmmm?
We do it as a courtesy to our opponents. Our defenses our usually fairly decent and we want to give their offenses the sense that they are actually getting somewhere when the make it to the next line.
I think Clair should have this as a trivia question on his talk show. I emailed the Reveille to see if those knuckleheads know.
Are you referring to the alternating green colors or the yard line numbers? The alternating green hasn't been done this season, if it has I can't tell from the EU. The yard line numbers is simply a preference by the powers that be at LSU, I like it. I thought LSU was the only school that did that.
Are you saying LSU actually puts the numbers 5, 15, 25, etc. on the field? It doesn't show that in the picture....
I'm just surprised y'all don't paint half the field pink, and then repaint the other half at halftime! :hihi:
