I know for a fact that he will meet a linebacker there.

We have a DE with 4.44 speed that meets running backs at the corner. Watch and learn . . .

Their speed to the corners actually concerns the heck out of me. This will be the first game of the year and you always have first game hiccups. One of these hiccups could easily turn into a game changer with their speed.

What I meant by that, is that while our Dline might not get to the corners before your backs do, we don't have to... We have a nasty azz defensive secondary that will be at said corners when your backs get there...
We swarm the ball, your backs will not break long runs by hitting the edges, and their too small to run consistently on the inside against our big boys.

Glad to see him called on this. I just posted essentially the same in another thread but with our DB's...if they get there. Our Dline may arm tackle those lil scat backs.

It's not so much that one 4.4 guy get's the ball. There's much more to it.

If you have two 4.4 guys in a two back set, one more 4.4 guy in the slot (next to a 4.3 receiver), or in a few cases last year, one 4.4 in the backfield in pistol position, and two 4.4 guys split wide, a defense has to pick it's poison. That's what this offense is predicated on. Take what defense gives you. If they defend the run, it's a bubble screen to a 4.4 guy on one of the wings, if they defend the pass, it's an easy read option play for another 4.4 guy. If they get caught in the middle, that's when they play action off the read option (or fake the bubble screen) and go deep to our two 4.3 receivers, or over the middle to a TE, or the 6'5" Tuinei.

That's what makes it dangerous, not the speed (which helps, but isn't the end all), but all the options a defense has to defend.

Again, not saying they'll win because of this. History has shown when teams have time to prepare against Oregon, they do well. Fortunately for Oregon, all the film LSU has is from last year, with 11 starters gone from that team. The bad thing is... we have 11 starters gone from this years team!

I guess you didn't see the run by LMJ against UT that was shown repeatedly on ESPN and just about everywhere else all of last year?

‪LaMichael James 72 yard YD run against Tennessee‬‏ - YouTube

He broke 3 tackles on that play alone! Then he outran that fast SEC secondary. I know it's UT, but he still broke tackles, and still outran a fast SEC secondary.

What makes our offense dangerous is after our backs truck 'em. When you see DB's looking on the ground after a tackle it's not a contact lens they're looking for, it's their phuckin teef.

I know Kelly is a creative minded guy but coaches recruit players to fit their offense, they don't reinvent it. And in the SEC we see spread formations with running quarterbacks a lot more often than PAC foes do. This was evidenced in the Ducks ground game being curb stomped in the NC game last year.

There's a reason UT finished 6-7...and it can be summed up on that one play

For a better comparison, why don't you show us some LMJ highlights from the Auburn game? If you can find any...

It will be interesting to see how big fast DE does when he has to run sideline to side line for 6-8 straight plays at 13-18 seconds a clip. Taking a guy's breath away, takes the fight out of him. If he can keep up, he has my vote for stud of the year.

Your offense will move the ball, but it's because it is a well coaches offense, not because youre "track u."

Similarly, your defense will be on the field for 9 plays where the RB's pound the ball right at them and wave to your offense on the sideline.
