Which would you rather? I think for me, not having the chance for a national championship would be too much. The only undefeated team not to get that chance... Sorry, but I don't want to be like Auburn was last year...
I'll take a perfect season over a loss any day...while it would suck to not get a chance to play for the national championship atleast nobody could say we did not deserve the shot.
At the beginning of the season, you had to figure either USC or Texas would have to lose to open the door for the Tigers to play for the championship. Three months later, much has happened but nothing has changed. Give me the 13-0 run. That loss to Tennessee haunted me a little more each week as Tennessee self-destructed. Besides, at 13-0 we could find some magazine to proclaim the Tigers as champs.:hihi:
Who's responsible for the 1 loss is an important item in this one. I used to jokingly say we can 1-10 as long as that 1 win is Auburn, but 10-1 is unacceptable if we lose those pricks. Seriously give me 13-0, so we can go teach PeteCarrol how to handle this situation with dignity instead of crying like alittle spoiled bitch.
I would take 13-0. Not only because of the obvious winning is better than losing, but it would be another brick in the wall toward a playoff. And at that point, the SEC would probably start to stand up and make some noise. Having one of the 5 big conferences on board would be a great start.
I honestly never thought I'd see the day when an SEC team would go undefeated and not win the National Championship, much less get a chance to play for it. And eventhough some think it's funny that it happened to rival Auburn, that is NOT a good thing to have happened to the Southeastern Conference. Because if LSU would've gone undefeated this year, the Tigers would likely be left out of the national championship game. Then we would be crying foul! And even is USC and Texas loses, the Tigers still could get left out of the picture, so laughing about Auburn to me is not seeing the bigger picture. It just goes to show there exist a bias that goes against schools in the deep South by voters in the East and West. Like it or not, the SEC in the minds of many "sophisticates" in the East and West still represents the ole segregated, Jim Crow, redneck South and do not deserve to be "legitimized" by getting a vote.
If LSU went undefeated and were left out of the NC, then the pollsters would try and justify leaving out 2 SEC teams by saying the competition is weak. "How could 2 sec teams go undefeated 2 years in a row?" I would bet on it.
yeah - the obvious 3rd choice is missing here - at 13-0 we'd still be SEC Champs with a Sugar Bowl win if we were left out of the NC - so the question just becomes - "If we can't go to the NC game, would you rather be 12-1 and SEC Champs, with a Sugarbowl win, or 13-0 and SEC champs, with a Sugarbowl win."
