The top 5 football conferences (top to bottom) this year:

    SEC
    Big 12
    Big 10
    Pac 10
    ACC

    Tell me why I'm wrong.

I can't argue with that. Take FSU out of the ACC and it would be:
    SEC
    Big 12
    Big 10
    Pac 10
    MAC
    ACC

the MAC...right. any day of the week I would take a subpar SEC team to beat a MAC team.

Besides NIU, most of the MAC's big victories have been flukes, catching teams on down weeks before big games.

you can blame the K States, Bamas, Pitts, and Marylands of the college football world for allowing the MAC to even be considered one of the top 7 confrences.

Note that I only included the MAC if you took FSU out of the ACC. But Vandy, MSU, and Ole Miss to beat NIU, Marshall, Bowling Green and Miami (Ohio). I love the SEC, but looking at things objectively, you really think those three subpar SEC teams would have winning records against those four MAC teams?

Interesting TE, Pac 10 not in top 5? Big East has a couple good teams, but top-to-bottom you think the BE is better than the Pac 10?

honestly, i do. out of the 4 MAC teams you named, I think 2 are fairly legit, NIU and BGSU......but they can be beat.

Ask yourself this, would they be able to get up for a Vandy the same way they would for a #15 Maryland or #3 Ohio State?

I think they would. Any chance they get to go out and play a team from a major conference is big to them, no matter what team. I believe Marshall is good enough to go 2-1 against those three SEC schools, although everyone knows their win over K State was a fluke without Roberson. I really put Marshall and Miami in the same category as Kentucky and South Carolina, decent teams that can be dangerous and sneak up and beat somebody. I see NIU and BGSU as comparable to Bama and Florida, based on the season to this point. There's a lot of football left to be played though, so by the end of the year, who knows where the MAC teams will end up.

next year the ACC will be #1 or #2, with the addition of Miami and Va. Tech.
