Top Transfers: Big names in new places
    Richard Cirminiello / CollegeFootballNews.com

If this year's crop of the best four-year transfers is any indication, Thomas Wolfe was wrong; you can go home again. Ben Olson, Brian Calhoun, Barrington Edwards, Sammy Joseph, Chase Pittman and Darius Ingram — each expected to make contributions in new digs — will resume their collegiate careers on campuses located much closer to friends, family and first girlfriends.

RB Barrington Edwards, North Carolina via LSU — In Edwards, the Heels have a Nick Saban recruit wearing Carolina blue. Coming out of high school, he was considered by many to be one of the Top 5 backs in the nation, but got lost in a crowded LSU backfield. He distinguished himself this spring as one John Bunting's best offensive weapons, and will challenge Ronnie McGill for reps in the fall.

CB Sammy Joseph, LSU via Colorado — The departures of Corey Webster and Travis Daniels left the door wide open for Joseph, and he took full advantage of the opportunity last month. The former prep star from New Orleans used his 15 practices to familiarize himself with his new surroundings and seize control of one of the two secondary spots up for grabs. In 2003, he had 55 tackles and a pair of picks for the Buffs.

DE Chase Pittman, LSU via Texas — Seeking a fresh start to his career, Pittman chose to return to his home state of Louisiana. He had a terrific spring debut for the Tigers, spending much of April in the offensive backfield and showing signs that he'll help offset the graduation of recent Dallas Cowboy draft pick Marcus Spears.

LB Darius Ingram, TCU via LSU — Ingram's no stranger to TCU, a local program he seriously considered before joining the Tigers' heralded class of 2003. He possesses above average quickness and athleticism, which will serve him well as he focuses on succeeding Martin Patterson at middle backer. Ingram is currently running No. 2 on the depth chart, but that could change this summer, when he has a better grasp of the Frogs' 4-2-5 alignment.

Yeah I was good friends with Darius, he sure missed his mom and grandma and their cooking. He was a good guy who left for all the right reasons. I wished him luck and told him I would be keeping my eye on him.

mgreer1, I had heard he also had a sick grandfather as well as being homesick, is that true.

I also read that he had some kind of phobia about high bridges or something and had a real hard time with the Miss River Bridge. True or not true?

I knew that there was a family sickness, but did not know any details. He did talk about being there for his grandma alot. As for the high bridges I do not know, Darius was a funny guy but he never mentioned being afraid of the bridge. If he was I would have had to give him a hard time about it. lol

He was a great character guy who really loved being at LSU but he understood that needs come before wants sometimes.

That's ashame about Darius, we could of really used him.

I really think Chase Pittman is going to be very good next year for the Tigers and possibly start. He made a lot of the right moves, and was in the backfield a lot.
I didn't know that Sammy Joseph won a starting spot, but I am really glad because he impressed me from what little I saw of him.

I think our DB's will turn out to be a strength for us again next season. Joseph has starting experience (and I would think that the Big XII, with TT and OU has thrown the ball a little more than the SEC in recent past, so I think he's got quite the starting experience).... Prude is gonna be back--which will be key, and Mario Stevenson was looking damn good before his injury set him back. We've got 3 very solid CB's right there, and with Landry and Francis both back at the safety spots, we're looking very, VERY good there.

cajdav...According to your logic, it's time to give this guy the heave ho, right? Screw him, right? According to your LSU Basketball logic, anyway...

We see how far your logic with the hoops program extends to reality...IE-You make it up as you go along, and accuse players who change teams for the Hoops team to be low character punks, and people like Ingram as players who just made the right decision?

    What a surprise...

TE, you're a jacka$$. Your hatred for Brady colors every discussion. Ingram had several issues going on with him. Neltner didn't by his own admission. I never said anything of that nature about any of the basketball transfers. I dare you to find one post where I called any of them anything like that. Neltner shouldn't have transfered, but now that he has I couldn't care less what happens to his basketball career. He turned his back on LSU for playing time issues.

You're the one who makes crap up, and unlike what I said you're BS is full of hatred for both players and coaches. You're the only one I will call a punk you lying piece of crap.
