In the Tiger's Den, there is way to much censorship. For instance, I somewhat jokingly theorized that Skip Bertman was gay, that being the reason he chose Les Miles over Petino. I'd say the great majority of my post have been deleted, some no more than for questioning the censorship.

It's very clear that very little bad talk of Miles or Skip will be tolerated. It's just one big love fest.

No joking, no kidding, no negativism, only positive, serious statements and topics w/regarding Les Miles.

I saw your original post, and just thought it was juvenile. I generally can't stand "censorship," but I've also VERY briefly seen other LSU boards where posts like that are the norm. I guess it's a slippery slope, and I certainly don't want this forum to degenerate into that sort of place.

I don't have any sacred cows, and don't really care who you make fun of. But really, I'm not all that interested in foolish postings about that kind of stuff, unless it's really funny. In this case, I didn't think it was. And for the record, this is just my opinion and I'm not a moderator...

That attitude pisses a lot of people off. You are not the be-all and end-all of LSU fandom. We are allowed to express our opinion with our unmet expectations of LSU Sports.

Well, that's a load of bull. People post all kinds of criticism here. There is plenty of heated discusssion concerning the same and there is no censorship problem. You just haven't been around long enough to realize it.

Brett has set the rules and you agreed to them. Your opinions haven't been censored, only your remarks that were in violation were removed. I haven't actually deleted anything of yours, just reminded you of your user agreement and asked you to keep to it. Another moderator removed your remarks suggesting that an LSU athletic figure was a homosexual because it violated two of Bretts rules and was inappropriate. Brett owns the forum, Frogleg, and he doesn't need any legal hassles. It is not a democracy, he can set the rules his way. The mods remove offensive remarks and delete inflammatory posts all of the time or the quality of discussion suffers. Don't take it personally.

Express yourself to your hearts content, no one will delete you for having an unpopular opinion. But if you feel a need to go beyond the limits that everybody has agreed to, you'll have to take them to one of the smack boards. This ain't one of them.

Well, I hate to direct this at Frogleg but since you started it.....

-This is the best forum in regard to LSU sports I've ever seen and it should stay that way. Social circles often can operate like that old saying about money and how bad money drives out good money. I know I've gotten annoyed at some of the attitudes around here at various times (mostly in regard to Saban bashing, questioning coaches decisions after the fact, etc.). Usually I just don't post anything and stay away for a while.... Anyway, the point is that censorship is a good thing, people need it or the site can quickly be taken over by morons.

-People often think censorship is almost always a bad thing. This is untrue. Censorship on t.v. prevents pornography from playing on basic cable, for example. For another example, take a look at the Masters golf tournament. It is in a class by itself precisely because the people who run it are capable of running the show WITHOT ANY OUTSIDE INTERFERENCE FROM AVERAGE CITIZENS. The people in control are able to "censor" the mob mentality of women's activists, etc. and go on about their business.

-The question is not whether censorship is good or bad, it's clearly something that could be applied incorrectly. The question is whether the censorship is applied in a reasonable, consistent fashion or in other words, enforcing standards. I never saw your posts but if you were bashing Coach Miles or some other prominant figure at LSU in the Den then I don't have much sympathy. I guess you should keep that in the Tiger Smack or someplace else.
