how do you feel about (especially petite) women carrying guns? especially if they have had training and are licensed to do so?

I'm a lot more comfortable when I pull into an ATM at 5 AM knowing that I'm not at the mercy of some crackhead. My head's on a swivel and they won't get the drop on me. martin, go ahead and hand over your stuff. What's mine is mine and I'm not just giving it to some punk.

It depends. Nothing helps if you get ambushed, like most muggings. But arming ones self to go into a known dangerous situation gives you an edge. A friend of mine has a shop in a warehouse district in a bad neighborhood. I'm definitely armed and aware when I go there.

But carrying a pistol around campus, to the grocery store, and dinner at Picadilly is a waste.

a wise man once said "i would rather have my gun and not have to use it, then need my gun and not have it." or something like that.

not great. where do you folks live that you are in constant danger? cant you get a dude to walk with you in the dangerous areas? is the area between your office and car a war zone? do you shop at night in beirut?

i dont quarrel with the right to carry a gun. but if my lady felt like she needed a gun, i would move, or find a way to change her schedule, somehow help her out, do something.

not only do i not want the ladies to get mugged, i dont want them dealing with the trauma of using the gun successfully. the only acceptable solution is avoid the whole deal. get the janitor to walk you to your car or whatever. there has to be some other solution. i dont know any women that carry guns in new york, and they seem to do fine.

for the record, my quote about only cowards carrying guns doesnt apply to women.

i guess. i dont care about the 300 i just got at the ATM. i used to go to the pnc bank atm near your building on hudson street in jersey city all the time after midnight, when it was a ghosttown. if i felt like if i was gonna get mugged, i wouldnt have carried a gun, i just woulda gone during the daytime instead.

i feel like the criminals win if i have to carry a heavy-ass chunk of dangerous metal around. they might not get my money, but they took my right not to be encumbered.

i agree with you for the most part. guns are not my thing, but to each his own i guess.

Nor cars . . . nor fishing. New York is probably the right place for you.

Wear that comforter. No one will mess with you.

    Well I do.

No. The criminals win if you can't go to the bank whenever you feel like going.

Rabbits and deer live like that. Not me.

No sh!t. I went to Cooperstown a few years ago. It's smaller than Breaux Bridge. A lot smaller.
