To move to #2 in the AP and Coaches' polls... how many changed votes needed?

Just curious... we don't seem to be too far behind USC is both polls, but I could be wrong.

If we just come out and demolish the opponents in the remaining games, and USC wins out in a less impressive fashion, how many of the AP and coaches' voters need to put LSU in the #2 spot for us to jump to #2?

 

Scott Rabalais has a great article in the Advocate concerning the BCS, and what the possibilities are in order for the TIGERS to get to the SUGAR. It could happen, but first lets take care of Old PISS.

agreed... just wondering if we need 20 AP voters and 30 coaches, etc.

 

Ok, we are 78 votes behind USC in the coaches poll, so that translates into at least 39, if they all changed their vote from USC to LSU. We are 85 votes behind in the AP poll, which would mean we need at least 43 to change votes.

 

I think its a given if we whoop ass on Ole Piss and everyone else the rest of the season.

 

So how many total voters are there for each poll? (I guess each coach in Div. I-A, meaning 117 of them, but how many AP voters are there?)

 

63 in the coaches, 65 in the AP.

 

I'm not quite as optimistic. Voters are very stubborn and they don't usually drop someone unless they lose or they look really bad against a bad team. LSU would have to destroy all three of our remaining opponents to really have a shot at passing USC in the two polls without them losing. Everyone seems to be sold that USC is the second best behind Oklahoma.

 

Only 63 coaches vote, huh? Which ones... the BCS conference coaches?

 

I'm not sure which ones. I'm sure there is a list somewhere on the web
